Love the stories from this site. The writers have great imaginations and terrifically sexy stories. My one gripe is that it seems that many writers don't bother to run spell check or the grammar check on their stories before posting. Maybe I'm overboard a little, but some of it is so bad that I close out what otherwise might be a great story.

Keep reading, Nick! The spelling and grammar on some stories may make you cringe, but others are well-written.
Remember to drop a note to the author about his grammar and spelling. He may not realize he has typos. You can suggest that he send his story to an editor, or you may want to volunteer to help out. :)

Hey Nick....I agree w/ WickedEve.....there are many good
stories out there, even those that have some typos
and grammar errors.....the best thing to do, as W.E.
said, is to let the writer know via feedback.....we writers
do appreciate the feedback, and its important because
it may help us in future writings! :)

It seems that you look new to Lit.....welcome aboard! :)

Spell and/or Grammar Check

Hey Nick,
Know exactly what you mean. I find that I, too, click off stories that have (to, too, two) many spelling errors. Typos, I can understand. Missuse of correctly spelled words baffles me. Find myself wondering if schools even bother trying to teach the difference between cloths and clothes.
My first posted story was replete with errors I know were not there when I wrote the thing. Somehow converting from Word Perfect 8 to Wordpad (.txt) format did stuff that I was not aware of. I use MS Word 2000 now and it seems to go through the conversion process better. Would compose using Wordpad if it had a spell/grammar check option.
I guess the real problem, at least for me, is proofreading. I work alone so have to do my own and find that after about six readings I tend to see what I expect to see rather than what is actually there!
Justin

Oh! The Thyme brothers! lol Are you two related?

I've ready many threads about spelling and grammar mistakes, and there's help at Literotica for those who need it. And for those who don't, they still make mistakes. I won't submit a story until I've waited several days and then read it again. That's the easiest way to catch your own mistakes.

The best editor one can have is yourself (at least 99.9 %
of the time)...... :D

I disagree

Some writers wouldn't ever make it to print if it were'nt for editors. And editors don't simply correct typos and spelling. They cut the fat we refuse to let go. Anyone know the story about Steinbeck'sThe Grapes of Wrath?

I'm the worst speller I know. I own a few dictionaries and still I misspell. It's embarrassing. More importantly, I need another's perspective to ensure my message is clear. That's why we write. Of course, we get it. I want to know somebody else gets it.

By all means, proof your work. Then, loosen the grip on the manuscript and trust someone to give you an objective view of it.

Peace,

daughter

No W. E., we're not related. Thot I was the only one in the entire world bright enough to adopt a handle like that! Oh well, sigh...

As for time to let the mind accept the fact that sometimes, even I might err, well, just let me say that doesn't always work either. If I ever get comfortable enough with this confounded 'puter to submit stuff to an editor for review, I will have to give it a try. Probably somewhat frightened of what I might find out. Don't ask if you don't think you will like the answer, is a convenient motto. Might try to add it to my posts..if I knew how!!

Spell & Grammar Check

Thanks for the responses. Wasn't sure what kind of reaction I would get to my comment. Didn't think about having to do some of this in Notepad w/o spell or grammar check and HAVE thought about offering to edit, since I notice when it hasn't been done.

Now, Justin. Mom didn't really want you to know about your Midwest brother, but I guess you're old enough now..................grin
