I just received one of the best gifts ever! For my birthday, my niece went out with her father to buy me a birthday present with her own money that she had saved strictly for that purpose.
They got to the store and she realized she didn't have her money. Her dad said she was so disappointed she didn't even think that he would cover the bill for her until she got home.
She bought me a beautiful dream journal. Along with the sweetest card and two pens she thought of it all. She knows how much I like to keep journals and this to me was one of the most thoughtful presents ever...she thought it out and she wanted to buy it.
I almost never want to write in it! Too late. I am a very lucky auntie!
my sister and my nephew were out one day not too long before valentine's day a couple of years ago. they were walking down this one isle that had some stuffed animals (they were looking for something for my mom.. just ot be nice) and my nephew picks up a stuffed gorilla and says "we have to get this for Rachel" and my sister objected. He said to her that he had to get me something for balintine day (he was 2 or 3 then). She thought it was really sweet and nice of him to think of me that way so she paid for it so he could give it to me.
when they got home, he came running up to my room and yells "Rachel I've got something for you" and gave me a big hug and a kiss along with the gorilla for valentine's day.
it was so sweet. and I'll never forget it since it's one of the only gifts I've ever gotten for valentine's day.
In high school, I lost my favourite CD at a party. It was a number of years old, and not highly circulated. I couldn't find it anywhere. (And this was back before I could just snag the songs online; or thought to, anyway.) For months, I moped about this lost CD. Then one day in first period, a good friend of mine told me he had a present for me, and made me close my eyes. When I opened them, he'd set the CD down in my hands. I almost reached over and hugged him right there, in the middle of class. He'd found it at a used music store over the weekend, and bought it for me because he knew how much I was missing it. He could have just told me where to find it, but he didn't. He bought it outright, just because.
So far, that gift is the most precious that I have received. Mainly because it wasn't for any occassion in particular, yet it meant a lot to me.
I was given a handblown glass pendant for my birthday, the first year I met Irie. He gave it to me, along with writing I You, in silver stars on my bedroom wall.
I will never ever forget that birthday, or his love for me. He has given me a lot of really fine, wonderful, thoughtfull gifts, some expensive, others not, but this one is my favorite. The necklace I made for it broke, so I have to make new, but I love it still.
A CD, some candles and a keychain - given to me by a friend right after I moved into my apartment a few months ago. It wasn't so much the gifts as the fact that he had actually been paying attention to things I had said.
