We get spam messages from the discussion board nearly every day now. Shouldn't there be a mechanism to mark it as such instead of having to forward it to Laurel?

Fun with Spammers is my specialty. The only thing better than having fun with Spammers is having fun with telemarketers, right up there with blind calls from the NRA, and people asking for political donations.

Being that I have no life, every day, I sit by my computer and by my phone while waiting for someone to spam me or call me. Alas, I must have a reputation by now. Sadly, I must be on their do not Spam and/or call list. I receive fewer Spams and calls (sniff, sniff).

I get a lot of pleasure out of Spamming Spammers and calling back telemarketers to make them believe that they have a live one on the phone. The only thing more fun than spoofing Spammers and telemarketers is negotiating a fair deal with a car salesman for an hour and leaving without buying a car.

"And who do I make the check out to again? I hope his Royal Highness gets his throne back and if I can help you again with more money, feel free to send me an e-mail."

We PM'd her about another option to mark as spam items in the inbox.
She PM'd back saying we should forward our suggestion to VBulletin who makes the software that runs the forum.
Of course looking at their website / forum, it doesn't appear we're using the same version...

Forget it!!

vBulletin is the software that is used to run this forum - along with tens of thousands of other forums.

They aren't going to listen to an obscure, relatively little user like Lit to make changes to their software which is, incidentally, several releases out-of-date.

I own a forum (that has nothing to do with Lit or E) - and quickly learned that any contact to vBulletin is completely ignored.

Press the 'Delete' key ?

Yep, that's what I do. Playing whack-a-mole is a lot of wasted time, especially since that's all Laurel will (or can, apparently) do herself if you report it. This is an adult site. Give up the need for babysitters.

Purportedly Lit cannot upgrade the forum software until the new site is in place, because they are both tied into the same database. So maybe there is hope.

She blocks the accounts, I gather, thus removing the spam from all other recipients.

It seems to come in waves. Someone invited me to watch videos just the other day, a nice Russian girl, if one believes her name...

Odds are that upcoming versions of most forum software will have the PM spam reporting functionality. It's the latest spammer go-to tactic, and a problem on every site and platform.
