I am soooooo sick of SPAM!!!!

No, I don't mean that nasty meat substitute.....

I mean all the garbage that stacks up in your email......I still can't figure out why I *as a female* get all sorts of viagra & cialis spam......are they trying to tell me something?

What type of spam do you get?
Do you ever read it out of curiousity?

you can but it normally will not work as many of the current spammers "hijack" valid email address's to do spreads of spam.... and the same goes for blocking certain originating IP's... they, like the domains, always change.... in addition, most of the smart spammers use only image files in the body so that there is no text to be seen so rules are not very effective....

however, there are multiple spam filtering proggies out there that with the right tweaking, work well.... or you can write rules in many em clients such as Outlook to allow em from only people in your distribution (address) list.... all others will be blocked....
and another way to do it is to establish multiple em's and change them frequently....

of course you can just never turn your computer on also.....

and along with what calvin said they get creative in the message area by adding some / { | * ! or any other symble to throw the filters off. Basically just set the spam controls and don't open and never ever hit the unsubscribe tool, that only validates your addy for them and then you're screwed.

yes.... very true... the best advice is if you use the "preview pane" option that most em clients have is to disable the auto-open feature and set it to manually open when you hit the appropriate key (normally the spacebar).... this protects you against em's that have a worm, adware, or trojans attached that execute when the em is opened....

of course, if you really want to stop the spam, you can do a who-is for the IP and get their address, buy a plane ticket, and then go beat them into submission with a rolled up newspaper....lol
