Space for Whatchamacallits

Well aren't you cheeky and looking glamorous today!

I'm okay, considering. I kind of failed my driving test this morning =/ but it was my first time, it was generally fine, the examiner was just a teensy bit too patronising and . . . just weird to make me feel comfortable >_<

Tea and knitting therapy is helping.

I'm feeling rather daft now, for wishing you luck :(

And I'm feeling like an utter cad for not doing so.

<Memories of Kind Hearts and Coronets>..."But I like it when you behave like a cad."

Maybe you ate all his sweeties and that's why he failed you...

I failed mine first time too. I failed it with panache and almost got killed, so I'm sure you'll pass it next time. Maybe you'll get a different examiner. The one that passed me was a total lech.

And hello to everybody else!

Bert, I'm feeling fabulous. I spent the morning cooking and now I'm making an itinerary when Boyfriend visits next month. I just booked a day's Game of Thrones Archery Session - you do it in full costume so he and I and two friends will be doing it.

And DesEsseintes, I no longer participate in Role Play on the boards. I do it privately now, with aforementioned Boyfriend. We're doing a Star Wars themed one at present, it's great fun and I find it helpful in learning all the lore and canon from that particular universe. He's a big Star Wars fan (I'm more of a Trekkie, it's a complicated relationship) but I still love it.

I used to write with NB (niceandbrutal) and in my opinion he is one of the best male writers on the boards. You can find loads of good female ones, just make sure and do like Scuttle suggested and check out their SRP Profiles and it never hurts to go through some of their threads and just read their capabilities. I am exceptionally fussy when it comes to writing partners (that's just the English tutor in me), and sadly I quit writing on here before I got to experience more of the literary pool.

If you like I can suggest which writers to gravitate towards, and which to gravitate away from. Depending on what you like of course.

All the best people fail first time, Ms Starry Eyed. And do forgive the poor old examiner - he was probably mesmerised by your beauty, as anyone would be. You should learn to dip your attractiveness rather than flashing it full beam at everyone so that they are dazzled.

You know what flattery gets you? *pushes my share of scones towards you. Shuffles over. Hugs you. Shuffles back. Performs Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 1 - Allegro, to accompany afternoon tea*

Nonono it's okay! I'll think of it as intended for next time (which should be in a couple of weeks)! :0

GoT archery session?! Aaaaaaah I cannot even comprehend how awesome that sounds! I want to gooooo

Oh, and ST over SW, always.

The archery sounds like it's going to be great fun - certainly worthy of a better epithet than that, but I seem to be superlative-deficient this morning.

Also struggling with the temptation to make the mango cheesecake I sent you the pic of. The trouble with being single is that there's no reason to do it apart from gluttony, but actually, the more I think about it, the more I realise I don't have a problem with that...

Ms. Starry-Eyed, I like what flattery gets me: many thanks. Remind me to flatter more lavishly in future.

And Ms Serpentine, I know exactly what you mean about the English don in you having high standards. Without wishing to be egotistical, and having perused many of the threads here, that is something that concerns me, too, perhaps more than it should. For me it is certainly Lit first and Erotica second (though a very important second!), and I know that perhaps isn't the case for many people writing here. I wouldn't want to come across as being overly picky, especially since I am relatively new.

Oh well. I am sure something perfect will crop up that I will just feel compelled to join (if I start something myself I would feel too embarrassed to say no to anyone!).

peeks in before hauling in a cart stuffed with good things.

Um... I hear you like treats in here? So I brought some. Cherry cheesecake (sweet or sour as you prefer), sea salt caramels, mandarin orange slices dipped in dark chocolate, and chocolate-dipped-mocha-peanut butter-Oreo ice cream sandwiches!

In a different forum there's a thread for Best sentence ever - The star wars reference reminded me of a contender [from a piece of highly pornographic fanfic]

"Unworthy to be a Jedi? You just killed Darth Vader, I think we can skip the written part of the test!"

Off to post it now I think....

The Struggle, what bounty! There may even be a little left over for the rest of us after Ms Starry-Eyed has dived in headfirst.

It is almost four o'clock here. May I offer you, as complementary to your own smorgasbord of temptation, a cucumber sandwich?

I find it impossible to say how delicious these look without resorting to profanity...

Tess. Words can't describe how amazing you are. Perhaps if I simply kneel before your incredible awesomeness, that might begin to describe how I adore you?

does the whole kneeling thing. Tries desperately not to foam at the mouth at all the nummy treats

smiles and settles the cart carefully before taking the proffered sandwich.

Whew. Ah, thank you! It's ten in the morning here but I can never resist cucumbers. Garden time starts soon...

Oh, I'm sure PS wouldn't mind. I definitely don't, having a mouth like a sailor. Nice to meet you, by the way, I'm Tess. :)

laughs and hands her a plate.

More like just a glutton who doesn't mind being greedy with others. Get up and have some, I hope I picked the right stuff.

How's everyone's day going?

*Finds himself suddenly very interested in what's happening...*

I thought it was going well until you came in, Ms Struggle. Now I realise that my feelings then were but the merest glimmerings of a rainy dawn compared with the noonday brilliance of your presence.

You are as absurdly welcome as an unexpected lottery win, and twice as charming. Do take my seat, and I shall retreat to the dusty library corner in abashed newboy wistfulness.

Scuttle, you're terrible. No more boob-pressage hugs for you...

smirks and goes to retrieve some of Tess's lovely delicious treats

My day has been pretty delightful so far to be honest. I ate an entire Lindt chocolate bunny about an hour ago. That was fun. I got chocolate... everywhere.

Well now you're just talking crazy.

I think you're choc drunk.

Now is that any way to be a grateful guest? You have to get them with sweet stuff and -

stops, clears her throat, and throws out a winning smile.

Ahaha, don't listen to him.

clobbers him discreetly with a pillow.

Well, it's very kind of you to say so, but I think at the moment I'm at a more mid-morning low-watt setting. You most assuredly have me beat in the realm of charm, so I'll just blush quietly and perhaps fight over that corner chair. I do love books. I even have an Athenaeum!

sticks her tongue out at Ruffly.

That's great! They do kind of shed chocolate whenever you take a bite. I usually mourn each little sliver. Now I want one.

I've just spent a minute or two in your Athenaeum and I'm in love.
Have you ever been to the Athenaeum in London?

I haven't! I do want to go to the library there, though. My next trip over will be in about a year and a half, so I'll make sure that's on the list. I'm glad you liked my thread. I have always found that it suits me perfectly. :) Do you have a favorite library?

This has no bearing on anything, but in the mid-80's I once did a survival course with a guy who was the manager of that place The [Athenaeum] at the time...

If you tell me it was a zombie survival course I will love you forever...

Ok - It was a zombie survival course...

That was easy - good job Shakespeare didn't know everlasting love was that easy to come by or he'd have saved a shed load of parchment :)

Unless, of course you wanted me to tell you it was a zombie survival course and it be true....

*sits in corner, covering eyes* Just . . . tell me when you're all done eating. Then sit back and allow the inevitable course of events to occur once my eyes open and feast on the glorious saccharine treats I smell. Seriously, this whole thread is a ploy to encourage my gratuitous eating habits to the point of explosion. A magnificent ploy.

Okay, I'm going to attempt to reduce my usage of ze site over the next two days due to deadlines *shudder* In the meantime, I leave you with library porn.
