Ok, there have been a lot of posts recently that touch on the subject of the south... Writerdom's thread about limits southern women impose, and a few others.
This got me thinking... How many of us are from the south? Or, more specifically, how many others from Texas? I know we had a GRITS count awhile back, but I want to include everyone.

I'm from the south, originally Alabama, have lived in Texas and Louisiana both. (military has a tendancy to move ya around a bit...LOL)

Does Southern California cut it? :D

Actually, the ol' mans family is from Texas, and I spent a buncha years there, in Virginia and Florida. I suppose my sympathies lie with the south during the 'recent unpleasantness'.

:rose:

Well, I'm not technically "from" the South. Born in DC. However, I currently live in Mississippi.

On the Carolina/Georgia border. Looking forward to Death Valley in 18 days. Woof Woof, go Dawgs,

Ahhh ....... there's nothing like SEC football. Good luck to you guys against Clemson.

By the way, I'm a graduate of the SEC Western Division form of Bulldogs. We play Oregon on that same day. Wish us luck. We're going to need it.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot. Don't let and LSU fan hear you refer to Clemson as "Death Valley". They'll probably pop a coronary.

lol

:D

I live in Houston now, but am originally from Oklahoma... and those people were from Tennessee... I am a Southern woman all the way... oh and Himself is my Texas Dom....

I grew up in a small town in Tn, went to the University of Alabama, and have lived outside Atlanta since then.

Raised on the gulf coast of Mississippi, high school/college in Tidewater Virginia. Have lived in Georgia, among MANY other places, but settled/went to college (again) in NE Coastal Florida (which, depending on what particular beach you are on, may or may not be the south--could be more like southern Brooklyn, or southern Boston, or southern Georgia LOL)

Originally born in Ohio, moved to Colorado shortly after and then many, many years spent on the west coast of Central Florida. Now back in Ohio again....damn I miss the ocean.

born and raised here in TN, though i have every intention of getting the hell outta town as soon as college is finished.

Does being an anti-southerner count? *laughs*

i was born and raised a Coloradoan, and moved to Arkansas about 4 years ago. i just refuse to turn into a southerner, no matter where i've been transplanted. :p

yes well thier are some of us who's location is really just an accident of birthy. i have tried really hard to lose the souther accent..and i'm no southern bell, and i never ever want to be scarlet oherra

You mean you LIKE this state? Poor You... *laughs* There's entirely too many trees for my taste. i grew up on the plains - a person can see literally for a hundred miles or more on a clear day if they're on top of a high hill, and still not see any trees if there's no water hole or riverbed around.

I only passed through, but yes, I love the tree people and all plants. If I had to go a hundred miles to see a tree, I'd just shoot myself.

2 reasons to go there now :D
(Sheath being the other)

Momma's a Fla gal born & raised
Met daddy here
I was conceived & birthed in Md (still south of the Mason-Dixon) and brought home to Fla at 6 months to be raised
A lot of additional time along the way spent in Nc and Ga

:D

They do grow on a person. i don't know what i'd do without the trees around now. *laughs*

Before i came here, though, the only thing i'd ever lived in was those wide open places like that. i thought i'd shoot myself when i first saw all the trees around and found out the woods were literally part of the back yard.
