South Africa Rape Epidemic

Watched a program on PBS last night about the current situation in South Africa where men believe, that by having sex with a virgin will cure aids/hiv,Some really sick stuff as some of these girls were just babies.The current President refused to believe that hiv is a virus and will not provide antiviral drugs for the victims.Wheres the worlds outcry? Where is NOW?

I believe the outcry has already started. This was reported here over a week ago.

I find it incredible that in this day and age that such despicable acts are happening on such a large scale.

You have started the outcry on Lit, let's hope it gets further than that. I believe several human rights groups are taking it up worldwide.

Write to your elected representatives, I will be seeing my Member of Parliament shortly.

We wouldn't let this happen to children in our own countries, why should we stand by and watch it elsewhere.

not only do they believe that sex with a virgin will cure their HIV but also do they believe that the government's action plan regarding the use of condoms is nothing but a conspiracy to get rid of every black citizen of South Africa.

I also read that 28% of school children raped were raped by their TEACHERS!

How wrong can that be!

Not only are the children traumatized emotionally and physically, but they are then at high risk of being infected.

It seems that, in the end, the whole civilization will die out and cease to exist. If continued sexual activity with infected partners doesn't culminate in a high mortality rate affecting demographic population, certainly the rape and infection of babes will.

How can the world ever change that type of mentality?
