I don't know it the site has been listed here before, but I've used a few "anonymous secret" websites to come up with a few story ideas. Has anyone else read through http://cavecanum.com before?

It's not just sexy stuff, it runs the gamut. The funny thing (to me) is that I'll use some sex talk, some personality vibes, sadness, etc, from various posters there. Other places like postsecret.com help too, but CC has years of content.

A lot of times it's hard for me to imagine up some fresh voices for my stories, but reading how real people express what can be their innermost thoughts, and a window to their feelings, is pretty cool to me.

No, this isn't a fish for clicks, lol. Honest question about using the voice of real people without anyone else knowing. Or would doing something like this feel 'wrong' to you?

I don't have much need for additional inspiration, but thanks anyway.

My imagination is pretty vast. I don’t need inspiration, but time and motivation are in demand.

Granted, the story idea part is kind of low on the list.

I have dozens of stories that are waiting on me to finish them, and many times I have to stop because the feeling of "this is such BS it could never happen" comes over me. But reading people's posts can help me realize there are people who admit to liking certain things. That's what I meant by inspiration. Everything on the internet is true right? Hahahahaha.....

But, the anonymity helps people express themselves more openly, I would think. I prefer to look at it that way because it helps my brain. I try not to think the posts are lies, just like my stories aren't documentaries. Don't burst my bubble, lol.

I didn't know such a thing existed. I guess I should know by now that "everything" exists somewhere! I can see where it might spark an idea, but it would just be a spark. It also seems that it would have to be something really 'out there', because most folks already know about what people do in secret. Since the types of stories I like to write have an ultimate target of "love found", I tend to build story ideas that serve that. I'm not a prolific writer though, and could see where it could be useful for someone who needs a fresh idea.

I might enjoy sneaking a peek at some of these 'secrets' though...thanks for sharing your source!

It's an interesting thought, but I think I have enough voices in my head to see me out. Goodness knows how they got there. :)

I have to write 15 x 50 word stories to use up a tiny proportion of the plot bunnies breeding daily.

I don't need inspiration. I need writing time.

To each their own. I could see where a sight like that could get the muse going. Someone showed me a link to a 'confessions' type site before, but some of them were....let's say disturbing. I raped someone, I was gang raped, I killed someone etc...could be true could be bizarre games, but it wasn't worth muddling through that to find the fun ones.

I find inspiration in people watching. Sit in a coffee shop for an hour and watch people and couples, you'll get plenty of ideas.

My other source is porn clips. I've written a few stories based on clips I thought were hot. They're mostly sex, but I added some plot. At first I felt bad like it was cheap, then it dawned on me these 'script writers' are raiding sites like lit for their ideas so why not?

I think turning off the media is a great start. Being on the tractor is a good place when the brain starts reacting to the boredom. The good thing is it allows a persona and ambience to develop, along with the plot. Personas are difficult. I used to find people to model things on but now live so far away fron people that by the time I get my shopping done it's time to come home. Occasionally I have to stay a night but it isn't so easy finding an appropriate persona so fast. I find they have to mature like a good drop of yeast urine.

http://cavecanum.com - such a sad, sad site. It seems populated with the downtrodden, the depressed and the alienated. I suppose if could be an inspiration for some genres, but nothing I would want to touch. Sorry.

Inspiration comes from wherever it comes. Terry Pratchett, God rest his soul, said something to the effect that ideas and sparks of inspiration whiz around and through the galaxy like neutrinos. Once in a while they hit a mind. Sometimes that mind is capable of absorbing and using them. (Wish I could find the quote...)

It's really not all that bad. There are gems amongst the rubble. Using the 'archive' link at the bottom, and going a few pages back 'tip around Christmas has some fun stuff hidden in there. It's really made my mind open up to a few new voices to use and scenes that would fit into a story or three.

I had never heard of that before. I can see how one could get ideas from it; the only problem is that you have to wade through a lot of nonerotic stuff to get it.

Inspiration comes from everywhere. It's one of the miraculous things about the creative process.
