And it probably wouldn't have happened if they hadn't stolen the governor's election last time. Stacey Abrams couldn't have done such effective organising if she'd been busy serving as governor. Thanks, Brian!

I see one story that says some part of the GOP is trying to get people to 'boycott' the GA vote.

I see another story saying they want voters to write in Donny's name.

Then I see a third story saying neither is true.
 
I don't think write-ins are possible here. If that's right, I wonder what the folks who plan to write in Trump will do when they get to the voting booth?

Kemp might have done some run of the mill shady shit voter suppression stuff to edge out Abrams, but good on him for holding legally and ethically firm in the presidential election.

"Run of the mill"? The guy presided over the greatest purge of Negro voters in Georgia history in order to win his own election over Stacey Abrams. The backlash was so fierce from said Negroes that it was enough to tip the scales against Trump in the next election!
 
Georgia will not deliver for the Senate. That is a D pipe dream. I predict the corrupt self-dealing R Thugs will win in a landslide.

Any R who sat out the election will rush to the polls to stop the socialist agenda. The racists will crawl out of their hidey holes. A Blay-uck and a fey little Progressive filmmaker? No, they will prefer good ol' boy and girl.

I did understate it a bit since did even more than that. But voter suppression is republican sport in the south. You should see the R gerrymandering in my state. Didn’t turn the state blue, but did result in a D governor and real efforts to reel in the fuckery.

The Republicans in Georgia have always been on the "cutting edge" of voter suppression.

Way back in 1990, after the 1990 census, White Republicans cut a back-room deal with Black Democrats to ensure 2 "Max Black" congressional districts...this marginalized and diluted Democratic voting strength in Georgia for over a decade, as the rest of the districts in Georgia spread white Democrats thinly and evenly into "safe" Republican districts.

Probably, but maybe trump’s own claims undermined outcome beliefs and voter turnout there as indicated by the presser in which one R woman was asking why bother to vote when the outcome has already been determined.

That is how it usually works, but I wouldn't underestimate just how crazy the right has gotten with believing their own propaganda about rigged elections. Some of them are convinced it's not worth voting, while others won't bother because they can't also vote for Trump this time. Usually Democratic turnout is sluggish in a runoff, but the base is fired up from their recent success, and there's also the fact that this will decide control of the entire Senate.

Bottom line, the Dems need a perfect storm to win here...but they just might get it.

so much depends on these 2 seats

it'll mean the difference between getting stuff done and 4 years of fighting and getting not very far at all since a rep senate will block every attempt to move forward.

i am hoping the georgian people are motivated enough for change they can see as within their grasp, now Biden's won the presidency, and come out and vote for warnock and ossoff. c'mon, georgia, i believe in you. :heart:
