of eHarmony's free deal? That being you can register for free, take the little test, and get the results. And, by the way, get a shit pot full of email teasing you with your 'matches' as well. (Can't blame them for that, they want to make a buck too.)\

Well I did. Kinda interesting. It seems to be a modified Meyer-Briggs sort of test. The format was similar and the results were pretty much as I expected. (And they did match my M-B profile, intj.) What I did find surprising is they went into the 'bad' on each trait as well as the good. Oh, they softened it up a bit, but I still found it interesting that they weren't into total 'blowing smoke up the ass' mode.

I'd reccomend taking a shot at it if you're willing to tolerate the email solicitation aftermath.

I haven't decided as to whether I'm going to actually pay them to find out anything further. I'm curious enough to wonder what they think MY match is. But skeptical enough not to want to bother with engaging in that dance enough to find out. Decisions, decisions.

Hmmm no i haven't tried them. Aren't their questionaires in a lot of depth and detail? Not sure I want strangers knowing that much about me initially....

I did their little test a few years ago and they told me that they didn't have any matches for me and "Thanks for signing up but we'll be terminating your account".

Maybe it was something I said?? :p

Ishmael!

Why would I hunt up more trouble?

And pay someone for it!

I certainly don't need any help there.

The questionaire isn't public.

That's the point. It's free right now. Whether you want to tempt fate and pay is your choice.

Me? I just wanted to see the test and the results. It's actually not to bad. Nothing I haven't seen before. The issue, for me anyway, is do I really want to find out what their 'matching' algorithm is? Which means that I would have to ask every 'match' they came up with to take the M-B test and see if there's a pattern.

It's the whole cross species dating thing. Two toned frogs are too evolved for their dating pond.

They let the damn leopard frogs in though and they've got spots! Bastids!

They dangle the bait so well. (Good business)

Went back through the emails. 20 some matches locally. Three request for photo upload, two for communication, one for unbuffered communication. Of course none of the above can happen unless I join.

Maybe I should finish filling out my profile and see what happens. I can do that for free.

Are we sure it isn't a front for Scientology or something?

You sent them the picture in your AV, right?

Okay, here's a plan:

We take up a collection and we each pay our fair share for you to find out -- we don't need to see WHO they found for you, just that they actually did something worthwhile for the money. Put me down for $20.

The number one problem with eharmony, a lot of people lie while doing the profile test. When they do that, they throw the whole personality matching thing off.

Warren and eHarmony have ties that go back to James Dobson and his "Focus on the Family" group of evangelical christians. ;)

At what interest rate?

Putting BDSM in my profile should be cool then, right?

How do you know that?

A couple of years ago my sis in law divorced hubby #5. She logged onto eharmony and spent like 2 hours filing out the questionaire. She was honest about her marriages and such, and when she finished she got some sort of 'message' telling her that her relationship history was too unstable to make her 'proper' eharmony material.
