Songwriting legend Gordon Lightfoot dead at 84

NOOOOOOOOO! Another great singer/songwriter that was the soundtrack of my youth gone. 🥲

If you like live music and one of these legends is in the neighborhood don’t miss them. They may not be here tomorrow.

Marc Myers wrote a nice tribute to GL in today’s WSJ, emphasizing how he was a jazz enthusiast all his life, especially going in for Louis Armstrong. Always love it when Pops gets a mention, he being the greatest of all time. Always loved GL's sophistication, musically and his lyrics. RIP

I never saw Gord live. I had a chance recently but I didn't want to remember him that way. :)

Bob Dylan: "I never heard a Gordon Lightfoot song I didn't like."

I saw him live in the late 80s at Ravinna, I would have seen him on his last tour had he been able to finish it.
He is one of few people who I have heard of who survived an a ruptured AAA which is what killed Bryon.
