Songs for posters

I'm reserving this thread for songs that I want to dedicate to certain posters. Maybe later I will think this was a bad idea, but I think just starting the thread now will make me man up and do it.

I think it's a fun idea, and one I'd like to do. So, while I'm listening to music throughout the day and it makes me think of a certain poster, I am going to post about it.

If you don't like it, ignore it. It's all just for fun. I promise no pot shots will be taken. This will be for my dear friends here.

For Islandman, because although it's taking a piss out of sad country songs, I think you'd find the humor in it, and possibly like the song. Also because you love animals.

Ween - Fluffy

Recidiva might have started one like this - except I'm sorry to say pot shots WERE taken in hers, but all out of perverse GB love.

Never thought I'd ever hear a Ween song again. My high school boyfriend was all over them.

Eve:

I have no idea why this one jumped out in my mind for you. Only four lines of lyrics. It's just a song I've really enjoyed, and it's nothing to do with the title of it either .I just think it's a gorgeous piece that manages not to overdo itself.

Maybe that makes this dedication sound dumb, or I'm a jerk. But yeah.

Sea & Cake - The Kiss

This is perfect for me :) I like most songs with a dreamlike quality to them.

For BG - Probably the longest established friendship I still have from this board. There's been years without words between us, but I know that you're always out there somewhere, with that big heart of yours. Not sure if you'll like the song, but David Berman writes such amazing lyrics, and well, I've always admired you first and foremost for the way you convey yourself through your words.

Silver Jews - The Frontier Index

For Fata:

You're such a wonderful and caring woman. I've always thought highly of you, and our shared love and missing of our Fathers, well, it's only made the bond stronger.

My Dad used to dance around his saltwater fish tanks and sing this to me. He would buy saltwater Arrow Crabs.

They look like this. Kind of like a spider, but not. They are neat looking, so I hope this doesn't spook you.

OK, here's the song.

Harry Nilsson - Me And My Arrow

God, you were next, asshole.

Sonny - Whatever the fuck you want to be called. Just because I could picture you as anyone in this class. Plus it's Bob Odenkirk and David Cross in it.

Yo La Tengo - Sugarcube

For Rosco -

The first male to ever make me feel completely intimidated on this board. So goddamn smart, fantastic word play, mysterious in your own ways, music knowledge that blows me away. If I could be any other male for a day, you'd be one of those choices. Just to see life through your eyes, and to hear what goes on inside that brain of yours. Although please choose a day to switch where you aren't up really high working on some structure, please.

New York Dolls - Subway Train

You must be psychic. Was thinking about my Dad this morning, a lot.

I will listen to this and text you later. Thank you.
