Ten little speckled frogs
sitting on a speckled log
Eating a very delicious bug (yum yum!)
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are nine little speckled frogs (ribbit ribbit)

(Next verse?)

I am liking this song muchly!

*smit*

sing all 10 verses and you'll get sleepy -- or I'll have to find all the words to "Mr. Froggy Went A'Courtin'"

My daughter sings "Mmm-aaah went the little green frog" when she's on the potty.

Yes, I taught her this skill  when she was afraid of falling in. It was the first thing that popped into my mind. Later, I taught her "99 Bottles of Beer"

She's long outgrown her fears, but occasionally I'll still hear her singing when I walk past the bathroom. :D

I have Froggy Went A 'Courtin on a Garrison Keillor CD if you ever want the words. :D

"Froggy went went a courtin and he did ride, uh huh
Froggy went a courtin and he did ride, uh huh
Froggy went a courtin and he did ride
Rode all over the country side, uh huh uh huh uh huh"

I love Garrison, but the version my dad taught me has a different line

"Mr. Froggy went a'courtin and he did ride...
Sword and pistol by his side..."

Of course, with Folk songs, if you DON'T have a few (dozen) different verses, there's something wrong :)

I like the Pete Seeger version;

There was an old frog lived in a well
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the Wedding Bells
A pretty little mouse lived in a mill
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the Wedding Bells

Froggy went a courting and he did ride
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the Wedding Bells
He said 'Missy Mouse you must decide'
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the Wedding Bells

(chorus)
Here's to Cheshire, Here's to Cheese
Here's to the pears and the apple trees
Here's to the lovely stra-a-wberries...
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the Wedding Bells.

Yay! Another Froggy Song! :)

Somewhere I have a poem about frogs. I'll have to look it up.
