I have this opening line of dialogue stuck in my brain but can't flesh out the plot.
Is Mom dead? If so, is this post funereal drunken confession from Dad?
If Mom is alive, did she abandon them and Dad is explaining why she has never been part of their lives? Or did she reform into an uptight church lady & Dad is explaining why she hates sex & he loves hookers?
Or is Dad just explaining to son why they should treat hookers with kindness? Or operate a whorehouse? Or a home for retired hookers?

And why did I think "son" when "dad/daughter" is my usual perversion?

and that's my problem... how to choose?
Usually, I start with characters, setting and basic plot decice, and the twists write themselves. But first, I need to settle on those basics.

The other thing is that for your version, the title would need to be changed to present tense- not that there is anything wrong with that.

Not sure if this would work, but I watched a short section of Hollywood movie once from the 1970's or 1980's where a son sneaks into a strip club, only to find his Mom is a dancer. He was NOT expecting that! The movie was good in that there was a lot of build-up to the scene, really the watcher not knowing if the mom would remove her clothes or not, but then she did.
