Sons of a Bitch -- if they are brothers. Otherwise, Sons of Bitches.

I agree with the weird one. The males of litters of one female canine. Or the male offspring of several female canines. The other choice is ludicrous - a male dog that is the offspring of more than one mother.

Why would this confuse you? "Son" is a noun and the subject of the phrase. It is pluralized as appropriate. "of a bitch" is a prepositional phrase containining a second noun that is also pluralized, if applicable.

Attorneys General is not at all the same because "General" is modifying "attorney." General in this instance is not being used as a noun.

Good to see you posting and starting threads again, Chum. You've been practically non-existent ever since Richard P. Feynman seems to have taken over your 10-posts-a-day spotlight. Likely just coincidental.

While reasonable explanations, in RL it comes out like this or at least it did in the late sixties...

"You Goddamned Little Long Haired Sons of Bitches,What The Hell Are You Doing Now?"

A Father yelling at two brothers from the same mother.

On little house shaking explosion that burned of half of our hair and eyebrows and the old man goes bat shit crazy...

We just pushed the bricks into the hole were the cistern was and filled the rest in with dirt.

I knew a guy who was unable to say son of a bitch, he said sunk in a ditch instead.

Please move this thread to the Authors’ Hangout.
