Anyone else watching Doctor Zhivago? It's my favorite movie . (just starting on Turner Classic Movies)

If yes, share your favorite scene.

If not, go ahead and share what your favorite movie is!

Yes Dr. Zhivago is a most excellent film. My wife enjoys it. Myself I prefer Bogart & Bergram in Casablanca.... watch it every New Years Eve... " Here's looking at you Kid".

I haven't seen Doctor Zhivago in too many years, My favorite movie is The 10 Commandments! My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol with Reginald Owen.

10 Commandments is right up there for me. I offer for your consideration The African Queen on the romance side and the The Great Escape for a true story with a phenomenal cast.

Yes a film on an epic scale which is also deeply personal and touching. It is also one of those occasions where the film is more satisfying than the book. For example the conversation between strelinkov and Zhivago that is one of the absolute high points of the story is not in the Nobel. So a great choice. For me the best film is Pulp Fiction.

One of the best films ever. Sorry I missed it, Lara, but I'll catch it again. I watched it a few months ago, I think it was on Netflix, or amazon or on demand.

All the movies listed here are great in their own right. I offer for your consideration 12 Angry Men (Just finished it) and A Face in the Crowd.

Thank you all for the great comments, and great suggestions for future flicks to watch.

Zhivago will be on again Feb. 3

I first saw it as a teenager and was extremely bored. Now, I celebrate every time I can watch it .

I see something new every time, realizing now the first time they were in the same space together was on a trolley and the last time they were in the same space (alive) involved a trolley.

I've heard in pms from a few others who watched, too.

It's fun spreading the goodness of a good movie!!

Excellent commentary. I never would have thought to include that conversation between Z and S as highpoint but you are spot on. That brings him back to Lara

Another important conversation is an early one between Z and Victor K ... Lara's transistion began right there.

I dislike the word slut, no matter how it is used, and have told several people here that. The earlier scene between Lara and K (you know what was said) hit me hard and made me cry even though I've seen it many times before. I felt for Lara. Powerful!

Morning Sweet_Lara! I have seen a couple of makes of this movie a long time back. It IS a really nice story. I don’t remember all the scenes. I don’t really have a favorite movie :) The last one was your gif and I think that’s my favorite right now :D

Happy New Year :rose:

I've seen Doctor Zhivago and the cinematography is what I remember most, it's a beautiful movie to watch.
Some of my favorite AMC/TCM films are:
Carmen Jones
Rebel Without A Cause
East Of Eden
Giant
West Side Story
The Lion In Winter

Just watched Dr. Z for the first time in its entirety, or at least that I can remember. It is in Netflix.

Two powerful messages for me.

The first was was around the politics itself. Without commentating on which society was better or worse, it struck me how fast and dramatic a country could change. Maybe a message we should all take to heart when we see populations feeling deprived and disengaged.

The second was the story of universal love and how those feelings could survive insurmountable challenges.

David Lean was a master. Too many favorites, but often listed in my Top 3 Films is Lawrence of Arabia. I once drove 2 hours to see it in 70mm. Amazing film. Lean is one greatest story tellers of the cinema. Coen Brothers are right up there.

Awesome! If you haven't already, check out the original soundtrack on you tube. You will discover Lara's Theme (such a beautiful song) plays (even if just for a few seconds) everytime Lara and Yuri meet or think about each other. Wouldn't that be cool if music played everytime we think about our loved ones? Maybe it does!

Oh, I agree! Such beautiful scenery. The daffodils. The frosted windows. Yuri at his desk. Lara in the library.

Definitely will make a point to watch Lawrence of Arabia. :) Road trip!

One if my favorite scenes in Zhivago is the library one. The light on Lara's face/eyes, the shadow on Yuri' s face, until he comes closer to her. Any thoughts on that?

...great thread here, but without banning??? hmmm, too many to choose from so I’m going to start with the Hitchcock thriller, “Rear Window”! Top notch suspenceful pace and direction by Hitchcock with Jimmy Stewart and Raymond Burr, but what just messed my head up the most - was... Grace Kelly.... *phew*! And I first saw it almost 3 decades after it’s release... still a pure classic to this day that’s really nice on the eyes too...

*no longer idle... 👋😉

Blowing the frost on the window, the music score, also in the cinema seeing a fellow pupil from school who was always getting into trouble and being a bit of lad, red eyed and saying how great the film was.

Its a Wonderful Life

"To Kill A Mockingbird" - one of the greatest books ever written, and turned into a great movie starring Gregory Peck and a young Robert Duvall in his first credited movie role. I would watch it any time.

I have never seen the movie. James last has the song on one of his albums and it is fantastic.
