Buttars said he doesn't believe the defeat means that most House members think the Darwinian theory of evolution is correct.

"Absolutely not. It means the vote was wrong in my opinion," Buttars said. "I don't believe that anybody in there really wants their kids to be taught that their great-grandfather was an ape."

In fact, evolutionary theory does not assert that humans were descended directly from apes, but rather holds that apes and humans — and all other species — are descended from common ancestors.

Can't you just see the reporter at his keyboard... deleting this paragraph, re-inserting it, deleting it, rewording it... walking around a little bit and then saying "Fuck it!"

Yeah, you use them the same way as you do with Dobermanns - you sick 'em on your enemies.

The dogs are less expensive to keep, though.

And Wishfulthinking...I think.

But then again, that's in Australia, where lawyers get to wear wigs and stuff. or however that goes...

In fact, evolutionary theory does not assert that humans were descended directly from apes. Except for that jackass.

:D Call it a little post-pub editing.

Now wait a damn minute! Let's give Mr. Buttars at least the benefit of the doubt. The current theory of evolution holds that apes, in general, split off from the main line of evolution that leads to Homo Sapiens, quite some time back. However, the current theory of evolution does not prohibit INDIVIDUALS from having different evolutionary paths. Maybe Mr. Buttars IS descended from apes. In fact, with his exhibited thinking patterns, perhaps a DNA analysis should be attempted.

JMHO.

I think Buttars was saying he was an ape and felt maligned that they were going to be teaching that he wasn't a human being.

I heard one possible use for Lawyers is in the field of Medical Research.
There are three reasons for this.

1) With the current surplus of Lawyers, there is no threat of their achieving an "Endangered Species" status

2) The Lab Staff would not run the risk of becoming emotionally attached to a Lawyer

3) There are some things that even a Rat will not do for money.

*cough*

Lawyers have a rather significant use, thank you very much.

If you have a lawyer, you go first in traffic court.

--Not that I have ever needed a lawyer in traffic court, the yellow turbo beetle has never made it over 55... even in a 65.
