We had a patient come onto the unit earlier this week. She is young, she is rude and she is very demanding. I was warned about her when I got report this morning.
I walked into her room only to find her comfortably in bed entertaining a security guard. I informed him he had one minute to get the hell out of there. She was upset, hell no she was pissed. She accused me of being a racist and several other things.
I ignored her comments, did her vital signs and left. (Documenting the entire thing.)
Less than an hour later I was called to her room. I asked the R.N. in that section to accompany me. We walked in to find her laying on the bed in all her naked glory. We could clearly see the needle tracks in her arms and legs. (I was amazed they had been able to get an I.V. in her without resorting to a P.I.C.C. Line or a Cut Down.)
When she saw the R.N. she became irate and demanded she leave. When she didn't she went into another tirade. That was when we left. Unfortunately I recognised her from my drive in many mornings. I see her almost every day in Riviera Beach.
I called a friend of mine in the local police department and he didn't even have to run her name. He knew her and was able to describe her.
We waited after we turned on some of the old video cameras on the unit. We taped all of her visitors. The local P.D. Sat in the command center watching the cameras. (All cameras are in the halls and not in the rooms.)
Within an hour we had documented six different guys walking into the room, then leaving a short time later. The police moved in.
She was escorted out of the hospital right into the back of a cruiser.
Oh she came in for exhaustion.
