Nah, I don't buy it. I may stop by for some tacos when we get back there this summer, though. :D

Pink Taco Restaurant Name Causes Stir

The name of a new restaurant in Scottsdale is stirring up some trouble. The Las Vegas-based Pink Taco Mexican Restaurant is scheduled to open its second location in downtown Scottsdale in June.

Nearly half a dozen people in the upscale city recently expressed their objection to the name, claiming it's a derogatory slang term for a portion of the female anatomy.

In late April, the city received four e-mails, three of which bore no names, objecting to the restaurant's name.

One of those e-mails stated: "The City of Scottsdale has a very fine reputation around the world. Let's keep the standards high. Let's let what plays in Vegas stay in Vegas."

Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross has said she is offended by the name and went so far as to ask the owner to change it, although he refused.

Restaurant spokeswoman Lisa Perez said the company's name comes from one of its menu items.

Perez said the company has not received any complaints or objections about its name.

The original Pink Taco is inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The Scottsdale City Council is scheduled to decide Monday whether to recommend the restaurant get a liquor license. If granted, the restaurant's application would then be sent to the state liquor board for review.

Hey, fair is fair! If the name "Pink Taco" offends you, you can go to the place and get so bombed that the name doesn't offend you anymore!

Scottsdale OKs Pink Taco liquor license

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 16 (UPI) -- Despite a trickle of protests over the restaurant's name, officials in Scottsdale, Ariz., have given a thumbs-up for a liquor license for the Pink Taco Cantina.

Owners of the original restaurant and bar in Las Vegas applied for city approval before opening the second location in the Scottsdale Waterfront district next month, the Arizona Republic reported.

The name, slang for a woman's genitals, was questioned by Mayor Mary Manross, and one other woman citizen who appeared at the council meeting Monday to protest. City officials said they had received only four e-mails from people offended by the name.

So, without debate, the council voted unanimously in approval and sent the application on to the state Liquor Board.

Pink Taco spokeswoman Lisa Perez said after the meeting that Scottsdale should be proud that the popular restaurant decided to open a restaurant in the city.

"I'm a woman, and I'm not offended," she said.
 
That mayor sounds like a real tight-ass. We're not in Victorian England. Give it a rest, have a taco. ;)

Seafood is seafood. Food that comes from the sea. There is no good or bad. I told you what I liked and that's that. Disgusting to you, delicious for me. Tough tit. :p

You guys get tacos? over in the old world we don't have restaurants like Taco Bell or anything like that. Am I missing much?
