Many of us (looks at self in mirror) live very hectic lives. We rush from one obligation to another with little time for reflection.

As we approach a new year, I wanted to start a new thread. A thread where I will post a new thought every day or so. The intent is to give us each a little something to think about.

I welcome your comments and thoughts as we learn from other perspectives. And you are welcome to post thoughts of your own.

Thought for the day

It's always the challenge of the future, this feeling of excitement, that drives me.

Are you excited about what the future holds? The attitude we take with us each day can have a great impact on how we approach each new challenge we face.

I have to say I loooove this idea!
Way to go dcraz!

Being an educator and a mother I am fortunate enough to see the faces of the future looking back at me every single day in the children. Nothing can put life into perspective like spending a day shaping the life of a child who will one day become or do something based on the things they learned at your hands. It reminds me in a hurry how we can impact the world around us for better or worse with even the simplest gestures.

My thought for the day....

So often we make our lives more complicated then they need to be, by taking on things which we could delegate to others or pass on altogether. If tonight the higher power of your choice showed up at your door and asked you to choose what in your life you could not live without what would you say. Those are things that matter in our lives and the things that deserve the attention we all to often give away.

Thanks Mskey... I think...

You obviously get the idea here. What I want to know is how you know me so well! LOL!

My name is dcraz and I am a habitual volunteer. I am no control freak, but I get involved in everything and offer my help. Sadly, those things most important in my life, often get pushed aside due to these obligations I force on myself.

You message helps me focus on what is most important in my life. Namely, family and close friends. All else SHOULD come second.

*bump*
this is a fantastic thread!

I'll post after I have time to think about it lol

HEading into a new year...

As we all look to make new years resolutions and promises to ourselves for a better year, let us all keep the following thoughts in mind to make our new years promisses to ourselves a little easier to keep.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

It is difficult to steer a parked car, so get moving.

The theme here is to get started and set your long term goals high, but keep your short term goals realistic and attainable...

Good luck to all in the new year!

Great thread DC,

this posting particulary is whack in the head for me. Thank you.

A hard fall means a high bounce... if you're made of the right material.

Many of us had a difficult year in 2004. How will we choose to tackle the challenges and opportunities in 2005?

I can accomplish anything with love and support from my friends and family!!! :kiss:

Great stuff DC!

I for one, will be looking ahead with great anticipation!

Kewl Beans :)

What a great concept for a thread!

2004 has been, I think, for so many of us, the best and the worst all thrown together. God knows it has for me.

For whatever reason - I've always been a little slow on the media front *LOL* - I just saw the movie Send it Forward, or Play it Forward...can't quite remember the title but it made a HUGE impact, for the first time last week.

My thought for the day:

If each and every one of us took that concept to heart and spread it to just one other person, imagine where we'd be?

If we each just took one day, or one chance, to go out of our way, out of our normal routine, out of our comfort zones to help one other person imagine the power of that simple concept.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie...go get it. Enjoy it!...For those that have, take a step forward for 2005 and bring it to life!

Greetings dcraz! In a society so inundated with the negative, its refreshing to see others who know the good in life.
A Native American said it best with:
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the morning, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.
If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies within yourself!

~kym~ giving thanks every minute of the day! :)

So wonderful to see you again. Thanks for dropping by to say hello and to offer your own thoughts.

You are so right, it take so little to help someone else and we may never know the power of that one simple gesture.

Here's hoping you have a wonderful 2005!

Another great attitude and thought to take with us as we enter a new year.

I give thanks this new year to those items listed above. But also for dear, close friends. My resolution is to take care of those friendships and not take them for granted.

Thank you for dropping by and sharing.

Happy New Year to you all!

Here are a few quiet thoughts:

A New Year's Prayer

Dear Lord, please give me
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
A work to do which has real value,
without which the world would be the poorer;
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
An understanding heart;
A sense of humor;
Time for quiet, silent meditation;
A feeling of the presence of God;
The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
Amen.

I love this.... oh yeah, this is my prayer ;)

Pay It Forward was the name of the movie and that is one of the best ways to do a good thing.

The trick I think is not to allow one's self to get so overwhelmed doing things for others that we forget to do things for ourselves or our loved ones.

Time needs to be built into any schedule for two things if one is going to keep one's "battery" charged so to speak. Those two things are time for self and loved ones.

If I can't help me, then how can I purpose to help someone else?
Today I see many people who are looking for that miracle pill or potion to make them happy. In my eyes, I am the only one that can make me happy by making choices that are right for me, regardless of what society thinks about it. I am responsible to me, first and then everyone else.

Lest we begin to feel overwhelmed by some of the resolutions we made, keep this in mind....

The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can and you sill see just how much you can do!

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

How many of us have the courage it takes to overcome our fears and do what is needed?

If you think that you need to make big changes in yourself or your life and feel frightened, remember change starts with just one step.
Take your life one step at a time, and remember to smell the flowers along the way.

Thanks MT and so true.

I think my problem is I tend to take life to steps at a time and never take time to reflect (i.e. smell the roses). Part of the purpose of this thread is for my own therapy to better apreciate life as I live it.

got to love the simple ideas of Dr. Seuss.....I think everyone should read this book:heart:

Looking for change

There are times when the greatest change needed is a change of my viewpoint.

How many of us claim to be looking for change but keep doing the same things that got us where we are today? Instead of looking outside for change, perhaps we need to look within ourselves...

True D, and I also feel each day is as good as its gonna get. Its up to me to make it a good day!

~kym~ making my day, one day at a time :)

Funny I never would have thought that coming to a site for erotic stories I would see people talking about the same things Jesus spoke about two thousand years ago. Not trying to push my beliefs on others just found it interesting that after all this time we are still struggling to do something that seems, on the surface, to be so easy.

Reality is merely our perception of the world around us.

The next time someone angers you take a moment to ask yourself if you were really the target of the other person or merely unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You might be surprised how often the latter is true.

by the by what's with this "bump" thing I keep seeing?
