Hi all,
I know it is hard to believe but something very pleasant did actually occur on the delay stricken London tube today. Well, for me anyway.
I was on a northbound Jubilee train which had stopped at Swiss Cottage station. As i sat facing the platform I noticed a lovely looking woman walk by. Our eyes met as we both had a mutually appreciative 'double-take'. Stern faced in normal travelling mode, we did nothing more and seconds later the train started to pull out.
She had lovely long blond hair, a white top, jeans and around 35 years old. In the short time as we moved along the platform I wondered, of course, if I would catch one more glance before she disappeared onto an escalator and I, into to a dark tunnel.
Fortunately, I saw her from behind as she walked and turned my head as she looked directly into the carriage. Our eyes met again and this time, instinctively, we both smiled and then she was gone. It was a lovely moment.
It certainly gave me a lift but I also thought it was quite sad that only when there was no possibility of any further contact, i.e. my train pulling out with her on the platform, did we 'dare' to smile and reigister our natural emotions. Had our eyes met again at the ticket office we would probably have looked straight through one another. We humans are strange creatures!
I know my little tale is nothing special to most but it was to me and I just wanted to share it with others.
