Something in space triggers hypersexuality in returned astronauts-cosmonauts-etc

Great idea! How about they also discover the sex organs of these astronauts-cosmonauts (both men and women) have grown in size?

Now everyone wants to go into space. :D

Got a few ideas:

1. Astronauts are go up with injections that are supposed to decrease bone density loss, and keep them healthy so there’s less adjustment when they return to Earth. Only thing is, it was only tested on Earth, not space. So between the Zero G and cosmic radiation, the enzymes in the shots mutate and effect the astronauts, so when they come back, they undergo changes.

They didn’t just keep muscle mass, they gained more, and gained more pronounced sexual characteristics, smoother skin...and a renewed lust. They’re insatiable once they touchdown. For added flavor, they could mutate into monsters.

2. Simple absence: months in an environment where sex is difficult and dangerous for everyone would make anyone have a desperate need for release. Once astronauts land they need to work off months of pent up frustration.

3. Astronauts have been replaced by aliens who want to mix fuck humans.

Astronaut splashed down near deserted island and finds magic bottle containing a beautiful scantily clad "Jeanie" who adores him and will do anything for him.

Oh, its been done, nevermind...

Everyone knows that Earth was "seeded" by aliens millions of years ago. The primitive unicellular organisms that eventually became humans are actually aliens from this far distant planet. That planet had no ozone layer, and the space radiation was part of their development. Earth, being protected by its ozone layer, caused humans to miss out on certain biological opportunities.

But once in space, the astronauts are bombarded by space radiation, and start evolving into what they were intended to be: they sprout wings, tentacles, multiple sex organs, and turn into inexorable sex monsters, just like their progenitors from across the universe.

That sounds like a Larry Niven schema. Space monsters are merely 'us' when they mature. His were viciously protective. Yours are sexually insidious. That's good.

Is Earth guarded more by the ozone layer or the Van Allen belts? If ozone, then lowered ozone levels will turn all Earthlings into sex.beasts. If the Van Allens, then riding in a higher orbit affects astro/cosmo/taiko-nauts, or a massive solar storm temporarily warps the planetary populace. Auroras and orgies, oh yeah!

Love this idea. A sexy spin on Quatermass, I might have a pass at it when I finish my current story, and the one I have on the blocks after that.

Some would argue that sexy Quatermasses was done already by Tobe Hooper in Lifeforce but there's room for multiple interpretations :)
