Someone said to me college is like going through high school again

After I questioned him about his college experience, a recent graduate from a community college said to me that "it was like going through high school again."

I was always under the assumption that college-level coursework and academics are specially advanced and difficult and the only people who really succeed in a college environment are those with very high intellects. Which is why I have been so extremely hesitant about taking college classes.

Those with even dead-center average intelligence are lucky to graduate college by the skin of their teeth.

My local community college only costs $71 per credit hour, so going there shouldn't be a problem financially.

Mike, take one class. Just one. See how easy it is.

Then go from there. :)

I always understood that college is extraordinarily difficult and even 4.0 high school students struggle to get passing grades.

Yes, I did.

Well, damn!
Do they have a policy over there of passing kids so they don't feel 'left behind'?
Because based on what you say here, I would never have believed you could pass high school level maths or science.

I got A's in science, but I was in special ed for math and I know absolutely NOTHING about even the most basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I got A's and B's in all of my other classes. I graduated with honors.

So, A) yes your education system will pass idiots to ensure they're not left out, or B) you are a complete fraud.
I'm leaning toward B.

I'm trying to figure out how someone could pass science without knowing any math.
Chem, at the very least, needs math.

Got to give mike a little credit for at least staying consistant with his alt.

Pretty much every non social science (biology/astronomy/pharma etc) stems from either physics or chem which are both algebra/calculus heavy.

Even the social sciences you will probably need some statistics class's.

Yea mike is just full of shit.

See what happens when you assume Mike?

I went to a charter school. Their way of teaching things is different than public.

I went to my local community college and picked up a class schedule booklet.
