Someday Microsoft will Collapse

Someday, the demon of microsoft will be vanquished into the night and all the little video game companies will produce for Linux and Macintosh.

Someday, I will never again have a virgin computer denied the sexual liberation and subsequent viruses of the internet, collapsing irrecoverably on itself due to the installation of a licensed Microsoft video game on a Microsoft OS.

Someday, I will not spend two pointless weeks trying to fix said computer only to be denied by "for your protection" Microsoft safeguards and fuckups.

Someday, I will not have to spend an entire day on the phone with the company who installed and setup my Windows PC (11am-5:15pm PST) convincing them that a) yes I have tried everything, b)no, that doesn't work either and I already tried it, and finally c) yeah, it needs major repair.

Someday, said conversation will not end in me having to purchase an original setup dvd-rom because petty microsoft doesn't want to release real OS installations anymore because "they might be stolen". (the shipping was twice the f***ing product and i won't get it for another f***ing week)

Someday, I won't have to live in fear when everything's back up again, backing up my OS everyday with sweaty palms because some Microsoft product could fuck up some Microsoft OS key component for which, say, a destructive reinstall does jack shit.

Someday, I will raze Microsoft headquarters to the ground and the oppressed masses will rejoice. Oh yes, someday.

P.S. Anyone else think the reason MS built their HQ in Redmond was that the rain prevents torchbearing mobs from razing them to the ground?

I will try, as a lifelong Mac user, not to gloat.

Never mind.

Gloat, gloat, gloat.

But not to worry. All things pass, even Microsquash.

Luc: This is why no well-versed computer user takes their revenge on Microsoft by not paying for their horrific products. Definitely nobody does that.

Microsoft should actually be given some credit. Before the MS monopoly, good luck to try and get anything working with anything else. Despite the evilness of Bill Gates's empire, it does result in some kind of standard. And Macs are nowhere near immune to Bill Gates for all the smug people out there. Who do you think makes the OS for every Mac?

The thing is, I have a Mac laptop. It's what I use a good 90% of the time. I love it to death. I'm communicating on it right now. Without it, the world would be a much darker place.

I also have a Linux box. The components are older than the Arc, but since the OS rocks, its my best desktop machine and is being used as a nice storage system right now as well as a good box for coding.

Its the other one. All I use "it" for anymore is video games, since by the demonic pact of Redmond, no video game company except Blizzard bothers porting over a playable copy of their game to other systems. If not for them, I could freely cut my ties to The Evil.

That's my biggest complaint about the Mac. It's so hard to get enough decent games for it. I might even sell my soul to get a Mac version of MechWarrior 4.

And Earl? What are you talking about? Microsquash has nothing to do with the Mac OS.

OK all you Mac boys, that's enough. I had my first Mac in the 80's when they still looked like a cinderblock with a little 10" screen, black & white.

Yes they work well, but they are far from imune to fuck ups. I can't count the number of corrupted files I had on on one of mine (a Mac LCII I think) when it was only a year old. I stopped buying them because I got sick of not being able to buy the software I wanted.

Yes they are better than Windows, but they still suck to. All computers suck. :p

OSX my friend. All the stability of Unix with the added bonus that you can play Warcraft 3 on it.

And rg, i think he's referring to the devil's pact that insures that MS explorer, and MS Office are polluting my Mac.

I've heard it's good. I may try it for my next machine, we'll see.

Different strokes I guess CD.

The last problem I had with a Mac, that is that took the system down and I had to take into the shop was 4 years ago.

What is it? A monthly event for Windoze machines?

Microsquash products are an illustration of a saw I remember from my early coding days.

If architects made buildings the way programmers made programs, the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization.
:p back.

:p back.

That may be why I don't have the burning hatred twords Micro that many have. Personally, I have never had a machine go down to the point that I couldn't fix it. (Except for the one I droped, and I can't really blame any one for that except the cat I tripped over.) In the 7 years I have been using windows, I have always been able to repair the problems myself and have never lost any huge amout of data.

RG: I'm drubnk and not an expert on Macs, so excuse me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the MAC OS share a lot of functionality and code wiht the Evil Empire and also use Internet Explorer and othe associated stuff?

The Earl

Functionality and code? Nope. All that stuff is strictly Apple.

You can get Internet Explorer for the Mac, but I would rather be dipped in honey and rolled in stinging red ants.

The browser that comes with the Mac OS is quite adequate.
