The stupidity of chickens is topped only by the cluelessness of turkeys. The don't look like they'll be laying any time soon, though.

This is my first go...my friend is a chicken (and peacock and goose) freak and gave them too me. My husband built a coop, er, palace this summer while he was off work. It's a bit over the top.....

That coop is a tad more elaborate than most.
My brother is a fading hippie chicken farmer on the side. His hens lay pastel colored eggs, which is like having Easter eggs for breakfast every day. They look and taste so much better than any eggs you can buy in a grocery store. I'm not sure of the breed but I know they're a bit unusual.

I adore baby chicks. I don't know why. I could just watch them all day.
I think ducklings are cuter. I helped some across the road this year.

Yep they're pretty dumb, but very cute as babies.
I have a friend who has the backyard egg/pet thing going. They do have emerging personalities though, and the social dynamics of a flock are interesting - I know there's a really good pet chicken blog or a hundred out there.
You'll really want to comb over that coop for holes, weasels are especially crafty and deadly.

They won't get much brighter as they grow, so get used to it...Especially the pooping. lol
