I am getting ever more convinced that the once-mighty US of A may well become reduced to a third-rate society over time, via one overarching factor: the shamefully abominable stupidity of almost half of its population, that part which still is aligned with Trump and Trumpism. Unfortunately the antiquated US constitution gives this minority overwhelming political power in America; a huge unfairness, but one nobody in power has ever bothered to rectify. On the contrary, ongoing gerrymandering keeps making things worse.

When I first heard the MAGA mania raise its dumbified voice, that remined me of my own county in 1933. We did not have a PR machine then with slogans like Trump invented, so Hitler did not use “MGGA” as his mantra. Instead he called what he started the Law to Protect the Civil Service System. With the result of people like Albert Einstein and Alfred Schumpeter ending up teaching in USA, no longer in Germany and Austria. And with them countless other Germans with intellectual minds.

Resulting finally in Germany having become Insignificant with time, instead of great as hoped for.

But now, just look at the power outages in Texas, anti-trust laws rolled back practically everywhere, insurrection gone largely unpunished in DC, and voting rights trampled in countless places. Plus a dysfunctional Congress, and you see a banana republic at work.

Harris and Biden will have a very tough time getting done what must be done, to merely keep America alive. And actual clean-up reforms will very likely never come about. All because of some stubborn shitheads in the US Senate and in a party, which once had the term “Grand” in its name. And an electorate infested by Trumpism to a large degree. Because of radical talk radio and a highly corrupt and corrupting Australian family having captured American TV media to a large extent. Infesting every hog sty in America with Trump’s perennial lies.

I realize things were as bad or worse in my country from 1933-45. But that is no excuse for America to go down that road also. Thomas Friedman published an article in the NY Times on 26-Jan: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/26/opinion/us-capitalism-socialism.html, Opinion | Made in the U.S.A.: Socialism for the Rich. Capitalism for the Rest. - The New York Times (nytimes.com) which I find highly worth reading. And he points out where the American ship is sailing, unless some course corrections are made.

Root cause of the American problem now, just as much as the German problem in the 1930s, is a significant share of the voters having become dumbified by political propaganda. A democracy without enough democrats defending it, and keeping it renewed, must falter. Thomas Jefferson already knew about that in the 18th century.

Our goal is not to stop the inevitable. Our goal is to minimize the transitional sting. We can't fix stupid. There are states that will survive. And others...well...that's their choice. Look at Texas. We have less than a decade and decisions must be made. Save what can be saved. Fuck the rest.

I wonder whether you care to explain your reply (with a few extra words inserted) to an old brain like mine, so I can understand, what you are telling me.

It already is a third-rate society.

We used to have a cultural identity and common values.

Now what are we??

Just a blob of humanity trying to bully itself into being less than because it's not fair that some people do better in some ways than others!!

Fucking pathetic and a total waste of a once great nation.

Yea the majority don't get to go all Stalin just because majority.

Sucks for all the authoritarians out there. :D Fortunately for us liberals it's so far kept them in check.

That's because most aren't so short sighted as to thin they could NEVER become the minority again. It's bad but could you imagine what it would be like if the majority could just bully the shit out of the minority? We'd be a 3rd world shit hole.

The US is destined to break up. This became inevitable the moment when Republicans refused to convict Trump. If you have cancer, do you stick your head in the sand and pretend everything will work out? Or do you accept the inevitable...I have cancer? Then you fight like hell to survive and if a part of you has to be removed...so be it. No difference here.

So we have a choice. A path of violence that will still end up splitting the country apart...or a path that minimizes violence. Republicans support the path of violence. I support the nonviolence path. The end result is the same...just how we get there.

All things must change.

No, we really have never been uniform in either of those.

Not absolutely, but largely.

1/2 the country didn't have an absolute loathing and contempt of any sort of freedom of any kind.

That's been a fairly recent development from the left. And the right essentially just cucked out and licked their ass.

The USA is dead.

Thank you Dribble for your inputs. I only want to try spinning your inputs further, not what follows after on this thread. Because any thread on this forum turns into ridcule pretty fast, when more than two people beging spewing out their heads.

So your thesis is: the USA must be broken up, just like a cancer operation on a patient. To avoid the cancer spreading throughout the whole body.

So far so good. But then a minmum mumber of questions arise: what to best cut out or off? And what to do with the "stuff" that got cut out? And how to make the body without the cut-out function again?

Do you have any answers to these questions, Dribble?

I wouldn't say it is what is best. I will say it is inevitable. As it stands, it is Constitutionally illegal for any State to leave the Union. So first things first...a Constitutional Amendment must be passed to allow states to leave. Then it is up to the people of those states...do they want to stay associated with people that are morally polar to themselves? This forces them to make a choice. Open their views to those they disagree with...find a middle ground...or not. I have no confidence in Republicans. It is impossible to work with them anymore. This is why it is inevitable. They believe lies. They have no morals. So states that are predominantly Republican will choose to leave...or stay and those states that are predominantly Democratic will leave.

The reality....80% of the US GDP originates in Blue states. They need us more than we need them. It really is their choice. But what CAN'T happen is pretending it will work out. Look at it like this. You are married. You find out your wife...husband...was fucking your brother...sister...without your knowledge. Trust is broken. Once trust is broken...it can never be repaired. You say it can...but each argument brings back old issues that were never resolved. How does the marriage end? Divorced. Cancer...broken marriage...the end is the same. 3 out of 5 National Evangelicals believe the election was stolen and that the path forward is war. 3 out of 5 Republicans the same. In Wyoming...this number is 4 out of 5. So we can do nothing...and have a war...or let them leave. Give them that option.
