Some good news!

Sorry for pissing on your grapes, but she can probably still be a royal pain in the arse. I talk about experience, in the municipality of Copenhagen, there they used to have a culture mayor (in Copenhagen they have something like 6 mayors or who has different seats , and areas of course). And he is an actor for once, his name is Klaus Bondam, but here comes the kicker he has been nepotistic when it comes to his husband, but he got caught when he was doing that. So his partner got kicked from being gardener. Now Bondam is the integration mayor, and not just that he made a deal with the extreme rightwingers (DPP aka The Danish Peoples Party) even though his recent campaign was him being against them, but he struck a deal with them to become a mayor again. So even though IT IS GOOD NEWS they now have an openly gay mayor in that lovely town of Houston Texas, then you can never know who, what or when something rotten will seep through the cracks. But then again that is how politics are done in this world, whether they are straight, gay or bi. The next thing I would love to see as a mayor is a transsexual, that could be fun too.

Night_Jasmine: I hope you are not offended by me writing my point of view on it, since I do see and think it is marvellous and wonderful that they have a lesbian mayor there. But anyway those were just my two cents :)

This makes me happy to be a Texan and a former Houstonian myself!

:D

Wow, that is pretty impressive. A gay major in the 4th largest metro in the US. Also who knows one day it may be 3rd since it isn't far behind Chicago, and Chicago isn't located in the sunbelt.

Also to think it happened in Texas which would be considered Bible Belt country. While people were impressed that there was a gay major in Portland, OR, the fact remains that Portland is liberal to begin with. Also Portland while it gets a lot of news, is still only the 30th in ranking of us cities by population.

Congrats to your former home city!

Yeah!!!! In Texas, yet!!!!!

*Snerk* Dude, that is one of the most beautiful mixed metaphors I've ever seen!

Well, I hope I am allowed to say thank you :), but anyway I sometimes mix metaphors up just to spice up my approach to the English language, but I do not want ruin the language, so I will at least try to get it grammatically correct.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...your English is much better than my Danish. :)

As for the nepotism comment - it's happened here too. The only one I can remember is Jim McGreevey, former governor of NJ, who gave his secret (male) lover a high position. I'm sure it happens in heterosexual situations too, though...being gay doesn't guarantee nepotism.

Props to Houston! I notice that they are now the largest city IN THE WORLD with a lesbian mayor. Go Annise Parker!

I was very pleased with the news. Yeah, have to wait and see what her policies are and whatnot but still...it's a giant step forward, ya know?
