OOC: This thread is loosely based around ShadowRun the RPG, using the same weaponry and technological advances from the game. The world is changed a bit though ...'tailored' to my liking you could say. There will be room for plenty of characters in this thread, but once we have established them and the story, I would rather not have any new ones unless a situation calls for it.

IC: Mercenary...Hitman...Gun for Hire...whatever you want to call it, they all basically represent one thing. A man who will do anything to get paid. And thats exactly what Guy Richen was. Forged by the Megacorporations to do thier dirty work, he was a lean...mean...fighting machine. He was through working with the Corporations', but he couldn't give up the line of work. Call it stubborn, call him stupid...but just not to his face.
He was almost as much machine as he was man, but it suited him quite nicly. The Corporations had equipped him with all the nessecary tools to kick ass and take names.
He fliped through the file idly, as he attempted to eat a bowl of steaming soup. Hmmm...he thought as he chewed a small cut of beef...they've almost got this synthetic stuff tasteing halfway decent. He returned his attention to the file, and scanned the page, picking out key words. Escort Misson...Hostile Territory...No backup...On your own...Must come back alive. He wasn't normally the type of guy they recruited for an escort mission...but it seemed his expertise in ass kicking was needed in this one.
He flipped through another set of files...coming up with names and pictures of all the mercenaries that worked for him. He selected a few he thought would be right for the job and moved to the secure phone...

OOC Yet Again: Basically, the characters I have lined up for this thread are as follows...
A Sniper
A Weapons Expert(able to repair weapons)/Demolitons Expert
A Computer Hacker(or a Decker, for those that are familiar with Shadowrun)
A Magician(Magic is available in these times, but casting a magical spell hurts you...I will explain it further if anyone wants to play one.)
A Bystander(The person we are escorting; Would have little to no combat training)
Any other characters that would fit into this thread.
I'm looking for around 6 characers, not includeing mine. There are Humans, Trolls, Orcs, Dwarfs and Elves in this world as well, once again for those unfamiliar with Shadowrun. As for equipment, we can deal with that later as we will have to pack lightly so that we can travel. Well...anyone who wants to give it a shot cook up a character idea and we can get started.

THe sniper was the first to get the call. The image popped up with the sillhoette of a hooded face. The sillhoette turned to look at the screan. The caller said "I've need of you. THe job's not big, a simpl eescort deal, but it's danjerous and will require your special services." The figure nodded and hung up.
Deckers... thought the sniper. No good for anything less than gathering intel. But they pay well, and he was looking for an excise to break in his new rifle...

He hung up the phone and set the Snipers file aside. He didn't have a name on the guy...but people in this buisness don't normally keep the same name for very long. He flipped to the next file and dialed the phone...

((BTW Cryo, incase you were wondering my character is not a Decker...if he had to be classified as anything it would be a Street Samauri I suppose My character doesn't even have a datajack, he's just making the calls to hire the people.))

My phone rings. I answer "hello" "I've need of your services" the voice on the other end says. "Where and when" I reply "And how much does it pay" A street Samurai does not work cheap it this day and age. I have a knowledge of almost all weapons repair and explosives ordinance. If I don't know it I bet I can learn it (4 chipslots in my skull)

Black hair, brown eyes. One of the up and comers, he's a master of all things electronic. A bit of a joker at times, a loose cannon all the time, although not officially trained in the art of combat, he can provide some cover fire due to the street smarts he's acquired in his neighbourhood.

Scratching my jaw I run a hand over my eyes

"Is the nyuen good?"

"It will pay the rent"

I chuckle slightly

"Tell your contact I'm in, you have a name of the leader yet?"

I smile to myself

"Well well it seems that we will meet again. Get back to me with a time and place, I'll get ready"

"Roger that and Knight, try to not to fry everything this time"

I laugh and cut the link

Jacob "Jake" Bad Horse. Former Sioux Special Forces. Due to his service with the Wild Cats, Jake's a Jack of All Trades, but where he truly excels is driving and piloting. If it's a vehicle it's Jake's bitch. So he's in constant demand as a rigger. Also due to his covert activities in his former capacity he has contacts out the yang so it's usually not too difficult for him to accquire any supplies the runners will need.

The comm beeped incessantly. With a sigh Jake rolled of the redhead whose name he'd already forgotten and opened the audio but not the vid feed

"Marcus to what do I owe this annoyance?"

" I have a run lined up"

"Well fan-fucking-tastic ol buddy, does it involve me getting geeked by sprawl gangers?"

"Oh for the love of-Don't tell me you're still sore about Seattle?"

"Of course not, I always prefer to spend my free time getting brain burnt by a pack of teenage trolls who weren't shown enough love as children"

"Don't be such an old lady"

"I wouldn't be if the damn street docs didn't keep upping their rates"

That is the RPG game. I never played it, but I have read the books so I have a basic background about the set up of the story.

Just a I slip on my leather coat with the mesh layer worked into the leather layers my comm link buzzes again, picking it up I switch it on

"Knight"

"Just running a quick update back to you Knight"

"I'm listening"

"So far an unnamed sniper and an unnamed street samurai seemed to have joined the run"

"You know I hate unknowns"

The growl in my voice is from past bad encounters

"I know, I'm running a background check as we speak"

"Is that all?"

There is a short silence

"You know Bad Horse?"

"I heard of him, word is that he can drive and fly anything that can move"

"Strange that you never met him, he is quite a big name in the circles"

"I don't mingle with big names Dodger, you should know after your stint with Verner"

"Please don't bring up Mr Twist"

The sour note in the Elf's voice shows that it still is a touchy subject

"Just get me the data or the run is off"

"Sure thing"

I sever the link and look at the figure lying on a mattress on the floor, hunching down next to the mattress I prod the figure and a blond mane of hair peeks out from under the covers, the blue eyes bleary and the fine almost elf like features draws attention to her soft, inviting lips

"What?"

"I'm going out"

"You wake me up for that?"

"Do you want anything?"

"Food"

I nod and get up, Sally always seems to be hungry and drained after a run where she had to use some of her magic. Looking back I see the covers pulled over her head already and chuckle to myself

"Well then, food it is"

Slipping out of the door I head down the stairs to the quiet streets, breathing in the cold air I grin as I feel one of my amulets glowing with soft heat that envelopes me. The power of the amulets never cease to amaze me. Looking around I walk down the street two blocks further the bustle increases. Heading for a noodle stand that I know sells the healthier type of soup to certain clientele I keep a weary eye on all the movements around me, I have protection that is a fact, but it pays to make certain.

My powers manifested themselves in my early teens as most changes seems to happen. Just not all powers manifest as a fire that fries what it touches to a blackened mush. Of course I was scared out of my wits and fled the town I lived in, I headed for the city as it was well known that you can get lost in cities and also that all types of skills can be learned. The first lessons I learned was from a wise old orc, yes I know, you don't actually put the words orc and wise in the same sentence, but it seems that once they get past their bash and smash stage they actually become intelligent. He taught me self defense and how to endure and overcome pain, Ghost was my next teacher, a street samurai who seemed to have earned his name in more ways than one. He taught me the more finer art of hand-to-hand combat and then weapon handling, when it seems like I would make out a decent runner he gave me over to Kodo. Kodo was a powerful mage and through his patient teachings my powers came to bear. It was shortly after this that we had the run in with the dragon

"Ah Knight, good to see you again"

I smile at the old lady behind the counter

"Always good to visit you Relja"

"Let me guess, Sally did a run last night"

I grin at her

"You know all my secrets"

"Oh not all of them, but I prefer it that way"

I chuckle

"I'll take three please"

"Of course of course"

I hand her my credstick and she slips it into the slot on her register, then hands it over to me. She turns to go into the back and I wait for her, wondering what this new run is all about.
