So... I got interested in ball gags... as in maybe I'll try (im very new at this..) and I'm looking through them in some online shop and I notice there is a difference between the balls.. apparently some are soft and some hard.. so I was wondering if someone has tried both or either really... what is the impression and difference (in the feel.. obviously one is soft and other hard) and which one is better to use or you prefer to use? Or is there any other type of mouth gag you like?
Thanks in advance

My husband shoves a coiled rope in my mouth because I get too loud sometimes.

Aside from soft or hard, think about the size. Sometimes they come in different sizes and that can effect the comfort. :)

Oh, sizes too.. I didn't think about it at all.. Hmm he wraps it around you or uhm really puts in your mouth as a gag? (I'm sorry to bother I'm really not experienced in this)

Size really matters. Too big a gag can make your jaws hurt horribly and just be very uncomfortable, so if you're looking for one you can wear for a longer time, make sure you get a size that's good for you.

I prefer soft ones, because the hard ones just are really, really uncomfortable to me and I'm always scared for my teeth when I have one in my mouth.

We don't use the gags or much any gadgets and toys we have anymore. For gags he usually just stuffs panties or socks in my mouth or uses tape.

Makes me bite down on it. So it muffles the sound. I like it though, because I'm a biter.

I'm thinking that someone with info will come along, but I think you'll have to just try for yourself to see what you like. There are tutorials and DIY Boards on making ball gags as well, so you can custom fit it to your mouth. :) Store bought sizes are often not very universal.

Edit: f^_^; seela came along while I was typing.

Yeah we did panties a few times... it was nice. Hmm, doesn't the tape stick to your hair then?
I was also just thinking of what else we could use.. I guess with a little imagination we will find the right toys hehe

Thanks for your reply :)

He doesn't put it all the way around my head. But still, yeah, usually it sticks a tiny bit to my hair, but I've never seen it as problematic.

If you want, you can buy bondage tape, too. It doesn't stick to your hair. And definitely, with a little imagination you'll find a lot of everyday items that can be used as a toy. :)

I don't know much about ball gags other than they quite literally make me "gag". My ex tried one a few times while we were playing with bondage and such and something about the rubber in my mouth not only made me salivate a lot (yuck) but also choke to the point I now feel panicky at the thought of gags.

So, my point: along with the size/firmness, consider the material in case of sensitivity.

We have just about every type of gag imaginable, interchangeable panel gags, plastic "drool" ball gags, rubber ball gags, softer stuffed leather gags, bit gags, a couple of different types of silicone insertable gags, O-ring gags, a very cool dildo gag with a "thingy" on each side, and of course, the aforementioned bondage tape which only sticks to itself (great stuff) and we've also used undies and cloth medical tape as well - for overnight gagging, cloth medical tape works fantastic and doesn't irritate the skin btw. We've been married 20 years and were together for several years prior to that, so we've had a long time to build up our toy boxes!

For long-term use, anything more than an hour or so, softer gags are definitely the way to go - as others have said, a harder ball gag will make the jaws ache after a while, and honestly, you want your sub to be able to move their mouth eventually. For sheer amusement, it's still hard to beat the simple old plastic drool ball gags because they make the sub feel more helpless than any others, but again, I wouldn't recommend using one for more than half an hour at a time, lest you cause jaw problems.

If we're going to use a "nice" gag for a long-term session, it's generally a soft-filled leather one which conforms nicely inside the mouth and can be bitten down on when needed - those are quite comfy and can be worn for hours without any problems. Fun subject!

Oh yeah.. thanks for pointing it out. The more I read replies the more I'm giving up on the thought of a ball gag and try to see how it works wit the other things. Hmm there are definitely a lot of things that can use the purpose and be much more comfier on touch. I look forward to finding out what works for us too hehe.
Thanks for your reply :)

Wow, that's quite the collection! Thanks for your reply, it helped a lot. And yeah after I read all the comments I think that I'll definitely go with some kid of soft one or experiment with soft materials. Today we experimented with a belt and as you all mentioned, the jaw really hurts and quite long too. I like the feeling you you described me with the classic plastic ball gag though. May buy it just for a nice mental image but will be sure to use it for a short period of time.

Sweetness, you sound like a wonderful lady! By all means, ya'll have to get a simple plastic "drool" ball gag - little white plastic ball full of holes, looks like a ping-pong ball that got attacked by a hole puncher. They're dirt cheap (usually $5 or even less) and you will feel so ridiculously humbled by that thing it's crazy. They call them drool gags for a reason, you seriously cannot help but drool helplessly with that thing in place, and that's a very humbling experience - again, not recommended for long-term play, but it's interesting watching a sub trying vainly not to drool all over themselves with that thing and it's equally exciting wearing one because you just know you're losing the war no matter how hard you try.

There are a couple of companies that make PVC covered soft gags as well, they look like ball gags but are filled with something squishy - we bought one from sub-shop.com years ago and it's been a "go to" favorite for many years. Their website had gone away for a couple of years, but they're back in business now and we recently ordered from them and had the same good service they always had before. I'd highly recommend shopping there - very nice people and very discreet shipping.

Have fun! :D

Thank you for the recommendation! I'll look through the site. :)
And wow, that sounds sooo hot hehehe. I think I'll definitely get one just to get that experience if nothing else (but I think I'll love it hehehe).
I will! Thanks for your help once again :)

The drool thing... might feel humbling, but it's sexy as hell from the outside. Not that I could tell you why, but that's my reaction.
The other thing about it is make sure you're hydrated!

I agree.. it's really a turn on. That's why I'm thinking over getting a gag.. well I decided to hehe. I will. I always do. Thanks for the advice :)

I'm almost speechless.

Really?

I tend to agree. Something about it running down the chin, neck and collar bone. It's all glistening and wet. I've never done it, but when I see it I have a, "oh that's hot" moment while simultaneously thinking, "I would be mortified if it were me." I suppose that's the point, though. ;)

Mortified is a pretty good description. I hated it. And then I started to gag and couldn't get him to get it out fast enough.

I haven't tried it since. I can hold things between my teeth, but I have to be able to spit it out if I need to, otherwise I panic.

And it's liquid evidence of powerlessness. :)

I am not a fan of gags, I will likely have use for her pretty mouth.

Animal posed a pic with this caption. "Go ahead and scream, the neighbors already know my name." Or words to that effect.

I want to hear your moans, your whimpering and you begging for my permission to allow you to cum.

Nope, not a fan of gags at all.

Mike

I'm not a fan of a gag (although I like TO gag and drool under the right circumstances)

I especially like a hood with an open mouth. Reduced to nothing but a pretty mouth.

The balls with holes in them you're talking about are commonly called whiffle balls. They are used by golfers for practice, because they simulate a real golf ball, but don't travel very far because the wind catches in the holes. There are also the larger sizes for batters to practice too, but of course, those are too large to be used for gags. Whiffle balls are usually made of cheap plastic, and riddled with holes, so threading a leather thong or some kind of ribbon through the holes can make a very cheap ball gag.

Drooling is very sexy for the dom to watch. A lot of the time, it seems like the submissive is drooling because she's sexually excited. And depending on the position, she can drool down her chin and onto her tits. Or, if she's bent over with her ass in the air, she can sometimes drool a little puddle beneath her.

But, I also understand someone not liking gags because of the gagging reflex. I have that same problem, and I think it's related to my claustrophobia. I'm not a submissive, but I know gags that help produce a lot of saliva can be difficult for some people. It might not be possible to get past, but assuring the position is face down, so any drool is sure not to collect in the mouth could be one way to go. But, I know that once a panic begins to sink in, there isn't much else to do other than accept it. In my opinion, trying to force someone to take their mind off of a panicked feeling is impossible.

I don't have much experience with gags, but have tried an inflateable one which I rather enjoyed.

Hi DVS, was just passing through. Don't want to hijack, but I did get to try an electro pinwheel and a glove the other week, awsome!! :)
