Socialits And Your Money Are Soon Parted.

Be better spent on republican corpo-whores - 'course the problem with that, you cant' tell them anything.

I read from time to time about the ridiculous ways Congress spends our money, and this would go high on the list.

If we prioritize spending, spend the money where its needed, and end all the BS, we'll likely have budget surpluses.

Instead of sobering whores in China, what could your town use $2.6 million for?

Jobs.
Better schools.
Jobs...did I mention jobs?

I'm reminded of the old joke about Princess Di; applying to get into Heaven Saint Peter wanted to know her skills and special talents. Di thought about it and said, I KNOW HOW TO DOUCHE. This describes pert nearly everyone in Washington. They know how to douche but little else. Jobs never register on their radar.

Come now Jimmy, those people in Washington certainly do 'know jobs'. Who else do you think created those 100,000 or so jobs to count all the people?
Now they're gonna' keep counting us in a perpetual census, who said we don't have creative people in Washington? So there ...

Didn't you hear? Gubmint jobs ain't real jobs.

They are real jobs but, for the most part, they don't produce anything. In that way, they are not like most jobs in the private sector, although there are some of those that don't produce anything either.

I'm not talking about useless gubmint jobs...I wouldn't work for the gubmint for no amount of money...a bunch of more useless slug I have never seen.

But you take that 2.whatever million and parcel it out to the private sector to hire people, then I would apply and work.

There are some on this board that would just say 'gimme the money'.

I see you know how to read and write. :) Maybe you should thank public school teachers for that.

I estimate that 1/2 is wasted, and studies support my estimate. Guvmint work always costs twice as much.

Once in a while the guv. finds waste or fraud in a program, and we hear about it. Of course, we don't hear about all the waste and fraud that goes undetected. :(

I agree Box, but seems we only hear about waste and fraud in gov. programs during an election.

Yeah, well when I went to school no one was promoted to the next grade for just being there. You had to do the work or get left behind, an onerous distinction in itself.

They may have been gubmint workers back then but they taught...they weren't babysitters. I praise the teachers I had back then, even though we children made their task as tough as we could for no reason.

I agree with you there. You and I both had the good fortune to go to the same kind of school. :D I remember quite a few students who flunked a grade in elementary school and had to take it over. Generally speaking, they were better off for it.

Yep, it didn't lower their self esteem nor cause them to become delinquents, of course a lot of that was due to the parent involvement, but it seems today that a lot of parents just turn their kids over to the schools to be looked after by the teachers. And of course the teachers unions...well let's not open that can of worms.
