So why isn't Barack Obama capitalizing on this?

Bald faced lie!

Senator Obama faced journalistic sniper fire over words, he himself never said. The video of Pastor Wright was played around the clock, news anchors were repeating the scenes over and over again and are still introducing the topic, whenever they can. Hillary Clinton’s farcical story about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia, told to underline her claim of experience and readiness to be commander in chief, has not received the same media attention at all.

Here’s what Hillary Clinton said:

This deserves to be aired as much as the Wright sermons have. But where are “the best political team on TV and their colleagues now? This story merited four Pinocchio awards from the Washington Post Fact Checker, four Pinocchios represent a whopper!

Because he's a decent man, I think, but damned if I wouldn't make sure everyone knew about it. :D

How do you get this news around to the world?

The anti-Obama crowd has shot its wad and are all out of ammo. THIS is the best time to get this info out, just before the Pennsylvania election.

On a side note, I'm fairly confident it was the Democrats who let the Mark Foley cat out of the bag right before the 2006 election. :D

Because... he's democrat. Politics is still filthy business for democrats, and we still have this misguided notion that character matters in a culture that thrives on scandal and moral turpitude (ratings).

It's probobly to his credit - as if that means fuck all.

i.e., dems are under a constraint to distance themselves from pubs, which means it's harder to be seen with grease dripping down their chins.

I think they oughta tear each other up, politely, of course - it would be a grand tribute to the Amercian political system.

It's called "PAYBACK" for all the times Obama and his cronies have taken almost everything Bill and Hillary Clinton have said out of context just so they could scream,

"RACIST!"

Now the shoe is on the other foot and the Obama backers are crying about how unfair this is. Tough shit.

Obama, "I gather people together. I'm not a divider." Right out of the Karl Rove campaign book of 2004. Sorry.

You're kidding me, right?

No. Ed Rendell said, "There are white guys out there who will never vote to elect a black president." RACIST!"

Gerardine Furrao said what she said. What she said was simply an accurate observation that Obama saw he could get some political advantage from. His response - "RACIST!"

Bill Clinton said, "Just look at his voting record. It's no different than, Hillary's. Give me a break." Obama's response - "RACIST!"

The list goes on and on. The racist in this race is not in the Clinton camp.

If you will never vote to elect a black president, that's definitely racist.

It appears to me that Hillary Clinton called her an idiot, maybe not a racist, but definitely an idiot.

I'd like to know the source for that last one.

The difference between the two is the reaction to a race issue.

When Hillary got a whiff of race, she binned Ferraro, a lucid, intelligent Dem who made a valid point. Another sign of the Clintons Agent Orange approach to politics.

Barack's reply to Pastor Wrights stupidities was masterful. The inanities were rejected, the pastor's religious beliefs were confirmed and, most important of all, the candisate didn't duck the issue of minority racial issues that bedevils the US.

Bring on the McCain-Osama showdown. Two guys shooting from the hip against the establishment.

I read this, which in the circumstances seems enough for Hillary to recall that there were some serious sniper issues when they landed. Don't forget, she would not have been getting all of the details. And after 12 years, she would be left with her impressions more than specific detailed recollections.

"Lissa Muscatine, who served as Hilary Clinton's chief speechwriter in 1996 and accompanied her on the Bosnia trip, feels that I have failed to provide a full picture of what took place. She gave me her "vivid recollections" of the arrival in Tuzla, which I quote below:

I was on the plane with then First Lady Hillary Clinton for the trip from Germany into Bosnia in 1996. We were put on a C17-- a plane capable of steep ascents and descents -- precisely because we were flying into what was considered a combat zone. We were issued flak jackets for the final leg because of possible sniper fire near Tuzla. As an additional precaution, the First Lady and Chelsea were moved to the armored cockpit for the descent into Tuzla. We were told that a welcoming ceremony on the tarmac might be canceled because of sniper fire in the hills surrounding the air strip. From Tuzla, Hillary flew to two outposts in Bosnia with gunships escorting her helicopter."

Bloody nitpicking crap if you ask me.

I hope you didn't mean to say "Osama".

Obama was attacked, not for what was said, but for what he did not do or say. He sat for twenty years, soaking up the diatribes, and stayed with the church, and brought in his children, and referred to the pastor as a spirtual advisor and generally appeared to be in accord. He has never repudiated the anti-American and racist things that were said there by the pastor.

Its rather obvious that you didn't even bother to read his speech.

If you insist on commenting in political threads, Box, the least you can do is keep up with the news. Sheesh.

Okay, he has now, but it should have never come to this. Once he knew what kind of preaching was going onm, he should have left, not stayed there for twenty years.

Gotta love the eight year old girl. Togo and all his fly in, fly right back out shit.

Laughable

Not only did this have nothing whatever to do with foreign policy experience in the first place, Hillary clearly didn't understand it at the time. Her recollection is scrambled and confused, if not actually fictitious. If fictitious, then of course she's just making up lies to look good. In the parlance, bullshitting. If confused and scrambled, then just pathetic.

I guess a claim of long foreign policy experience that is either (a) pathetically confused and unreal or else (b) simply a pack of calculated bullshit could be called 'nitpicking.' For me, it's not. I find it damning.

Meanwhile, Obama was put in a crucible with this racism charge, and came through with cool aplomb and a very presidential speech.

So the next time someone says he can't lead, under pressure, call bullshit on that, too. Because he just did.

Amen, brother. ;)

Hello??????????????????????????????????????????

Barack Obama's speech said:
I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely - just as I'm sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.

But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren't simply controversial. They weren't simply a religious leader's effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country - a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.

As such, Reverend Wright's comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems - two wars, a terrorist threat, a falling economy, a chronic health care crisis and potentially devastating climate change; problems that are neither black or white or Latino or Asian, but rather problems that confront us all.

Fuck, Box, at least read the fucking thing before you pull that out of your ass...
