So, who's watching football today?

I'm listening to it. Once the Colts went out I quit giving a shit about who won the Superbowl. LOL.

Denver's creepin' up on 'em.

But, damn! Troy is a JOY to watch, ain't he? So much FIRE -- and competence is major turn ON!

Not me! My rehersal was cancelled because of the playoffs! I lose to football!

Lol, I'm a touch bitter ^_^

HAte to see John Lynch and Rod Smith and the Broncos knocked out, but I have to admit, I am very happy to see Jerome Bettis going to the big game in what is probably his final year :)

And in his home town, no less.

Lol, it's actually quite funny. The man was teasingly asking me why I was still here, and I'd just go off on a mock tirade about me failing at life because of football. He laughed his ass off.

I watched the opening kick-off between Pittsburg and Denver at my brother's house. Does that count?

Actually, I caught a football movie this morning on tv I'd never seen before: The Replacements. I'm not a football fan, but I really enjoyed that movie. :)

Hee hee "I admit at first I was affraid. I was petrified..."

Why on earth would any sane person want to watch football??
I'll never understand the attraction of it, but then I'm a Brit, and I don't even like watching soccer.
Boring.
All of it.

My eldest asked me, when he knew I was coming over for a while, if I could get him tickets to the superbowl. Yeah. Right.

Guess I'm insane.

So be it.

Watched football yesterday. Barca looked pretty good. ;)

I guess I should be mildly pleased that my home team is going to the Super Bowl...but I don't really care. I don't even watch the SB for the commercials anymore.

If you have played football [American rules or footy,] you realize just how hard it is is to do what the guys who play at the pro level do. If you understand the complexity of pro football offenses and defenses, it is very interesting to watch a sort of "chess match with sledgehammers" being played.

On the purely physical level, you have to realize that the men are mostly HUGE! In the interior of the lines a very muscular 270 pounder is "a little, quick guy." If he were not really quick, he would not be there. A wide receiver may actually be a "little guy" if you consider a six footer of 200 muscular pounds a little guy. [There are exceptions here. Steve Smith of the Panthers is 5 foot 9 inches tall and 185 pounds. Guys of that size have near Olympic sprinter speed.]

JMHO.

Good point. Similar, I suppose, to the question that has always baffled us "real guys"--why would any sane person want to watch ballet? :)

Actually, what I never could figure out is why any sane woman would ever want to have a second baby.

Rumple Foreskin

ps: I watched most of both games. At least I had the TV on while doing some editing. rf

True! I lived in Pittsburg for a few years, and it's a good sports town. Quite loyal fans, although it's a blue collar base, so they have trouble supporting Stillers, Pirates, and Penguins.

In Seattle, I think it's the opposite - the Mariners, Sonics, and Seahawks have trouble gaining some mindshare among the people who can afford to see them. Mariners seem to have a pretty good core, and they have glorious weathr for most of their season, but I think it's a bit of a sushi crowd, not hotdog. Sonics and Storm have good support, though it doesn't consume the city. Seahawks could really unite the city with this championship. they've played very well!

Lots of good stories going into the SuperBowl - Bettis, as you mentioned. Holmgren and Hasselbeck, echoing Holmgren and Favre. Shaun Alexander and the Seattle OL. Mack Strong, long time journeyman Fullback. Big Ben, fighting through injury. Troy Polomalu playing like a man posessed. Great stuff!
