So what's the deal here.....

I can't speak to the number of times read, but the comments are legit. I think. I don't have many stories up, but the comments have been from either really good alts or people I still talk to around here occasionally.

Mods- please enlightenment required here.

Ya, they probably do. But really why care?

the mods are unpaid so why would they spend hours posting fake comments?

your stories are listed on a site with a zillion other stories listed on it. they're as easy or as hard to find as all the rest.

if people aren't reading yours enough then you should demand a refund!

OR whine and whine and whine and whine on here instead of just... y'know... leaving!

how do you propose lit should be promoting your stories?

With snow cones and wet socks and flying cars.

And with being fortunate enough to know those who know why that counts.

i have tried a snow cone! this summer, at a music festival.
it turned my mouth blue :)

but they had no tiger blood, so i still need to turn up on your doorstep uninvited.

Tiger blood is the best.

All those other flavors are sold mainly to highlight the beauty of Tigers Blood.

You had something askin to 3rd chair oboe.

i had a feeling that might be so. best sweep your doorstep ready for me :)

Damn those pm reading mods! Every time I say something bad about 'em in a pm, I get flogged!

How many times do you comment on a story you jacked off to? I used to get depressed over lack of comments too, but I came to realize that most people come, read, jack off, leave. No comment necessary. It'd be nice if they would comment, but very often they just don't. So I stopped expecting it.

Do writers here or any other adult website ever get published or make money? I've never written anything, but I'm considering it.

Oh damn. If we can get flogged just by trash talking Mods in PMs, I need to go find someone to PM.

Then again, you know what they say:

"The masochist says 'beat me! beat me!'; the sadist says "Noo'"

Well there is a reason why I talk bad about them as much as I do.

Please do correct me if I am wrong......but it seems you work hard and post your stories and a few moderators are told to support you with random inspiring comments, cause it is all about money for literotica after all......then you get dropped, the stories never get read anymore and you somehow get the feeling that the numbers...as in how many people read your stories is all bullshit......Am I right here?

Real art has no permanence.

That which we view in museums as examples of art are actually money-makers for whatever reason.

You are not right. 50 Shades of Gray is still having a good run. You might consider expanding your publishing methods if you believe you are that good.

You do not know how much pressure that you have taken off of me.

Next time, no guilt, no mental reach-around.

:D :D :D

How can you get published or noticed without spending a shitload of money?

With lots of negative bitchy reviews raising the curiosity factor abut how bad that story is...

I wonder, do they sponser Worst of Lit contests over on in the AH?

They do it annually for Hemmingway...

We could do porn.

It was a dark, cloudy, stormy night, replete with redundancy and '36 Chevy coupes...

No. You are not right.

The 'moderators' in your sense don't exist. The votes and comments come from those visiting the site, and there are many more people visiting Literotica than almost any other site with free stories.

The problem with stories not being read is that you establish a following, or not, based on your first few stories. If what you write is popular, then your next stories will get attention. If it has a limited appeal, those who read your earlier postings won't bother with the next ones, unless they like that category.

Unless one or more of your stories gets on to the Top Lists of the category, or is in a very popular category such as Incest, it will disappear from view within hours of posting.

One way to avoid the quick disappearance is to take part in the themed story Contests. The Winter Holidays contest is about to start. (see this Sticky at the top of the Authors Hangout) As a contest entry your story would be visible for a month, much longer than a non-contest entry. If people reading your contest entry like it, they could look at your other stories and generate votes and comments on stories months or even years old.

It would also help to correct the link in your signature which goes to your bio, not to your stories. Your story link is http://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=1322063&page=submissions

Here in flyover country we call it talent and hard work.

Taking hostages cannot hurt.

Any Q is good Q!

:D ;) ;)

Take Dixon Carter Lee, he cringes every time I bring up Teaching Patti and his thinly-veiled methodology for writing under-age porn. His friends/fans get pissed as hell at me but it makes people look...

Bullshit! ;) ;)

You start 30 threads titled, "Can You Help Me Find a Story," and after a day or two of snark, you "find" the link to it and then begin thanking random people with high post counts so that if all the cool kids know about it, you just have to check it out.

 You really smart people sometimes suck at marketing.
