My First Story + Whats a good amount of hits on a story daily?

My first day I'm at about 2500, and that's pretty cool. But is this small potatoes? I have no idea.

Anyways, here's my story . It's incest for those who don't dig it.

Any critiques would be nice. I know it's not original, just regular stuff.

The number of hits depends a lot on the category. Incest stories always get more views than other categories, and someone just posted here about their incest story getting 10,000 views in three days. That seems pretty high, but it puts you pretty much in the same ballpark.

Sci Fi, Novellas, and Non-human are some categories that generally get the fewest views. Novellas especially get fewer views but more votes per view, in my experience at least.

Well it's been five days, and I'm at "11513" hits now. That makes me a happy panda. I was really worried no one would want to read it because of the taboo. I'm glad to see open minded people around these parts

I have an incest story that posted early on the morning of Feb. 6. It is now 10:30 the evening of Feb. 10 and the story has 23,681 views and 59 votes. This is the only incest story I have ever posted, but I will probably post more, probably featuring the same siblings.

I don't think the thought that something is "taboo" will chase away any literotica readers; it will more likely attract them.

I have written some decent stories and some clunkers. The story with the most reads for me was one of my worst. "Ronnie" has 79000 reads and 199 votes. the rating is only 4.21.
Yes, it's an incest story.
My second most read is in the first time catagory. Mrs. Kelly has 56000 reads.
Mature also seems to score high.
I guess, if you want reads, those catagories might be the best bet.

My one incest stoy has about 24,000 views and 53 votes in a week. I think of that as pretty good. Anal seems to do well also. I have two non-consent stories. One has 8,400 views in eight months. The other has 43,000 views in half the time. Go figure.

Romance probably does the worst. E/C attracts a lot of total views buyt there are so many of them that none get many views.

That those people who do searches for places to read erotica, have a bigger interest in reading about the depravity, immoral stories, and such we all can write about, than the uplifting and heart warming.

Of cause the comment could go on to include all of us writer's in it, but then we know we're all depraved, immoral, and insane ........ or am I the only one?

I don't deny being depraved, immoral, etc. in general, a dirty old man. However, I did recently write a story in the Loving Wives category which is, oddly enough, about a loving newlywed couple. In one day it has attracted 7800 readers and 39 votes, which is a very high percentage of voters, at least for me. My incest story attracted more readers and more votes but not as high a percentage. Some of my E/C stories don't attract that much in a year.

I read somewhere once that the actors who specialize in playing villians are frequently the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet, and that horror writers are usually extremely mellow and kind. When asked why, the response always was that these folks are willing to face all the icky stuff in their personalities and deal with it through their art.

Which would mean, of course, that those who write naughty stories (I'm fond of writing about slave girls, myself) may be more sexually moral than any number of those who would so eagerly censor them. After all, researchers have found that the sexually repressed are more likely to commit sex crimes than those who use pornography.

It's an interesting idea, anyway...
