So what is it in Syria that the US and Russia want so badly?

What's all this shit about Syria I have to constantly hear about whenever I turn on the news?

Why is the United States and Russia fighting a brutal proxy war in that country?

I automatically assume that all of this is rooted in international corporate interests just as almost every single major war of this century and the last, was.

But what about natural resources, how is Syria with oil, minerals, and natural gas?

US aims to destibilize eastern countries and have their puppet governments there. I.e. governments that will listen to what USA says. THis is done with the aim to weaken Russia and China and gain their own political powers. Because you understand that the more countries are controlled by USA - the better. Syria has a good geopolitics position too.
I don't know of any other reasons, probably there are some. But that's the main, I think, if you analyze the policy of USA over the past 15 years.

What Russia aims I cannot really say. There are three main objectives I see.
Helping Asaad regime Russia gains an ally in him - that cannot be denied. ANd of course it's very beneficial. We will most likely NOT put any kind of puppet regime - Just because Putin likes to make allies that help him of their own free will, because they owe Russia.
One of the main reasons is to deny USA what it wants. Russia doesn't want USA to gain monopoly for war and power in the world, doesn't want USA to become a single country that does whatever it wants and no one can object because it's so damn strong. That's a valid point.
And of course ISIS. Whatever any other reasons may be, Russia is very threatened by ISIS. Because we have a lot of Muslims in our country - that's a big part of our community. The more radicals there are - the more threat that our Muslims start going to them and listen to what they say. The more threat of terrorism by OUR people. That's a real problem, and the solution was to put ISIS down.
It's not like it's done to help Europe or Syria. It's done to protect Russia's interests that are numerous.

go look at a world map.

what's between syria and russia?

what does syria hold dear - aside from an easy boat to cyprus.

georgia.

armenia.

azerbaijan.

a gateway to orthodox christianity.

gas and oil pipelines.

money...

it is in russia's best interest to support the leader of syria and make puppets of the regime. assad and putin have a long history. it is no secret. go play connect the dot yourself. the US will only issue words as long as coverage in media does not get too bloody for human rights tastes.

this is why you give the people smart phones with internet access. most importantly the people left on the ground. document it.

That's what you read...

It is not exactly what we write, but were done trying to have a rational conversation with you. WHen you duke it out with Spidey, you run hard to the right and when you decide to take us on, young hang a Left. Therefore, the only conclusion that we can reach is the you are sans philosophy but are lacking something in your life that drives you to want to fight it out with everyone you interact with. I cannot recall, at any point, in any conversation thatI have read of yours of you telling someone else, hey, that's a good point. I agree with that. I think you should find a good MMA gym and get some training in to work that aggressive behavior out of your system.

Then maybe we can have a good conversation.

Russia has had a limited Naval base in Syria since 1970. They used to have two others in the Med but have been pushed out. They would like to retain and expand this facility. The US would not like that. Almost any government in Syria other than Assad's would evict the Russians. Wait and see what price the Russians demand for keeping Assad in power - a permanent Naval base perhaps.

You have never tried....all you do is talk shit to deflect and ignore any real questions, then you rant about bastiat as if somehow socialism being evil means you're not a total bitch for talking so much shit about how bad we are for losing Syria, how weak we are OMG I can't believe Obama LOST all these wars etc etc etc all day long you post that shit, and nothing else. It's the only 'rational' conversation you're capable of.....shit talk liberals/Obama. That's all you do.

You never say why we should be there or why Obama shouldn't have left.

You never say how long we should have just poured money into Iraq with little to no results.

Nothing but "Obama bad, because socialism! OHHHHHH!!!" lol.....go find Miles he needs a good "Obama bad!!" jerk off this morning, he gets cranky mid week.

I said, when it was relevant, why Obama should not get involved because his support of the moderates would yield the same results as they did in Libya, where in the end, it turns out they were not so moderate after all. After that, there was not much to be said.

I was right then. I have no remedy for stupid. If I did, you would be the first beneficiary of my largess...

None of that changes the fact that all you do now is talk shit about what he's doing without giving ANY suggestion as to what he should have done or why.

'Obama/liberal/socialism is evil/stupid/destroying America because Bastiat sayz so~! And that makes me smarter than everyone on the board!!" is the only conversation you're capable of.

Can you explain why it's so bad he's washing his hands of it?

Can you give a reason why he shouldn't?

Or can you just not admit you're bashing him just because reasons.....??

So pedantic...

:(

Why should I not talk shit about what he has done? Even though he stands behind me, he's still our "leader." If I said he was fucking up, and he proved to be a fuck-up, how am I a bad guy for taking coup?

I didn't know about the base. But if there is - then yea, its true. Russia and US tend to try to shit on each others plate a lot instead of working together.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that any other government would evict Russians, however. Any pro-american would for sure. But you forget that having a Russian naval base there is beneficial for both sides. Syria has protection and income from that because Russia pays for the base.
Its the same reason so many countries have US bases on their territory. Money and protection. The question is only in whom you trust most. USA was very negative about Syria for a looooong time. Its natural that Syria doesn't trust US but Russia.
And current crisis just shows they were right. USA policy was directed exclusively at overthrowing Assad. They did nothing to stop ISIS - or at least did so little that it had 0 effect. And US was in Syria for more than a year. Russia is in Syria for a few weeks, and ISIS is on the run already.
If you ask me, that speaks for itself.

If I said he was fucking up,

That's all you have done.......

I keep asking what exactly he's fucked up.

Why was leaving Syria a fuck up?

State what we had to gain by staying or just admit he did the right thing by leaving.

The Afghan heroin is what they want.

Holy fuck a real answer....

Considering Afghanistan went from supplying about an 1/8th of the US's heroine to about 3/4 of it within months of us going in was less than a cowinkydink. ;)

So, you've dropped your factually wrong stance on the Soviet-Russian client state, the one we were not supporting, but actually had sanctions on, adopted a new position and started screaming again.

It wasn't Bush sending arms from Benghazi to Syria, it wasn't Bush spending hundreds of millions to train and arm the less virulent forms of al Qaeda in order to topple yet another regime about to win its war against the radicals and it wasn't Bush who backed down when Vlad showed up with the calvary and it wasn't Bush who declared a red line and then ran away from it as if Iran and Putin would take no fucking notice of his blatant cowardice...

So, yeah it's all Bush's fault, it's all miles fault, it's all my fault, because, you know, war mongers...

I wouldn't say it's really Obama's fault. Obama is weak. He's a suck-up for congress. He didn't have his own opinion FOR YEARS. So if you want to blame someone for some faults - you should start with your congress. Obama is weak to stand up to them - and he should be blamed for that too - true. But he's basically a scrapegoat now, and when he's gone - the real morons who put your country in the spot it is now - will still be there. They will stay, be even fatter and richier, and Obama will be gone, taking all the blame for all the failings.
Hell, there were incidents when he found out about some decisions and actions USA made - on a press conference. From reporters. He has no control whatsoever.
Be real. He doesn';t decide ANYTHING. He's just a face for TV cameras. He doesnt devise any plans and he doesnt rule your country.

That's what I think.

So, you've dropped....

No I'm asking you to state yours.

What exactly did Obama do that was so fucking horrible and what do you think we should have done differently......

Do it this time like an adult, you know without the hysterical "OH FINE IT'S ALL BUSHES FAULT!!" childish RW ass hurt Mr. "I'm not a republican"

I did state it. It is right above you.

Do it this time like an adult, you know without the hysterical "OH FINE IT'S ALL BUSHES FAULT!!" childish RW ass hurt.

And what exactly would you have done?

How would you deal with the middle east 4est? I mean with how much you call Obama a dumbass you gotta have all the answers right?
