The controversy of art? The concept of art?
I think what is reffered to "in the art industry" as a "Conceptual Artist" - is big fucking bullshit.
It's allmost anything you want - or don't want - or can think of. But it's best - it gets press - usually, only when "it's controversial."
And it so easy to "conceptualize" stuff (art?) that will piss off a large hunk of the populace.
So even though I dearly uphold the right for one to call oneself a Conceptual Artist. And uphold their right to be as controversial as they can be - hell, they can offend anyone they wish - I don't care, so, even though all this....
I don't have much respect for them - not as artists or people - they are taking an easy road through life - one ladden with bullshit and false grandure. One driven by laziness and over inflated ego.
Shit - anyone can be a Conceptual Artist, all they have to do is say so. They don't even have to "put out a product or actually create."
One could even say, "By doing nothing but peeing on the sides of buildings, begging for nickles and dimes and getting drunk on Boones Farm - this is my art - my "concept of art. I am a professional."
