i was thinking of buying charlie, the real doll, but he's like 7 grand and my 'stimulus' just wasn't that stimulating.

so instead, i bought a life size fully moveable resin skeleton.

i think i'm in love.

Poker tournaments. I have only spent $400 of $600 so far thoguh, so that means two more $100 tournaments :D

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Some of us haven't received the check yet. Ours isn't projected to arrive until mid July. We've just replaced the easy chairs in our den, so we're pretending it will go toward that expense.

We don't have ours yet. July 12th, they said.

We do have a Wii on layaway (along with Wii fit, and plenty of games) for Christmas, so we won't use it for that.

We plan to put most of it towards school clothes and supplies for the family. We're all in serious need and daughter, just 13, starts high school.

Agh!

I had to send all of it (and then some) right back to the U.S. Treasury. Payments of estimated tax for the second quarter were due on June 16th.

Paid some bills, gassed up the truck and the car, had a pleasant meal at our favorite Greek restaurant and bought some new landscape plants.

It's fun getting your own tax money back for a change.

I'm not eligible. Not all American's got stimulus money.

At first, I was going to use it to pay some credit card debt... but my CC debt was not significant enough for to really be on point.

So I decided that I might as well be patriotic with the money.

I went out to dinner with my gf to a romantic little restaurant that is probably overpriced but it's for the red, white, and blue..

I bought my gf a pink sapphire circle that she has been hinting at for some time.

Still got two hundred of it left so that is going in the ring fund.

I got screwed by the IRS on a disputed tax return from a previous year. I may get the money back eventually, but it could be more than a year. :(

Just got mine yesterday, so once the check clears, some will go towards credit card bills, some into my high interest account, and the rest, eh just blow it, not sure on what though.

Soviet Era Condom

I used it wisely and all my friends here in Moscow appreciated me buying the round of drinks...

Now about that doubling of my Federal taxes last year..... because of a little technical change in the method for the handling of foreign income... Now THAT stimulated me!

Well it raised my blood pressure, anyway.

Went scuba diving with some of it--the rest of it got absorbed into the exchecquer.

I gave it away.

I deposited the check in my checking account and then wrote out a check for that amount to the homeless shelter where I pass hot meals to the needy on Sundays.

You'd be amazed how much food that money will buy.

I know that many won't believe me, but once you stand behind the soup line and see the hungry and grateful faces that now include many women and children, along side the old drunks, you'd be touched to do that same thing, too.

I used to donate money and time to the Children's Hospital in Boston, but I don't anymore. It's too disturbing to make friends with a sick child only to see there bed empty the next time you go to visit. I don't know how the doctors and nurses do it. They are either saints or somehow detach their emotions from making a connection.

There by the grace of God go I. We all should have a problem.

<slinking away, shamefaced>

There's no reason to feel shame. I spent my life avoiding beggers in the street, dying children, and homeless people while I worked and enjoyed my life.

Then, something clicked after I won a bunch of money in the lottery. No one should have the amount of money that I won, so I played a philantropist for a while and got hooked with this one particular shelter because of the people who run it.

Anyway, I went years without mentioning what I do to help people, but now it's just part of me. I'm not saying to to brag or anything, more to make people aware how lucky we really are.

I used to think I had problems. Now, I don't. The worst thing is to see a parent leave the hospital without their child. It breaks your heart to see a big man just desintegrate with the death of his son or daughter.

Anyway, I'm sorry for hijacking this thread. I'm done.

I just paid down a credit card. Actually, this was charitable, in a way, because we use that credit card account to support some people in the Philippines.

Pissed it away on booze and whores.

Oh, and this "stimulus" is the biggest crock of bullshit ever. A bone so we'll forget how much the unjustified war is costing, and how the administration lied to us about the j ustifications for it.
