So, umm, Image Guidelines, eh?

It's pretty easy: anything that is really explicit, link offsite. Gifs is where enforcement is pretty lax. And again, reading the rules, no cockatars!

I have a gif thread and constantly have to monitor it. I am very careful about what I post but I have had a few people post explicit gifs. Not always easy getting them to edit it.

Am I alone in being puzzled as to how a thread owner is expected to ensure that their thread follows these guidelines? I've just checked some threads that I started and there appears to be no capability for me to edit or remove postings or images submitted by other people — just my own.

Is the intention that thread owners should stay vigilant for prohibited items that appear outside their control and then report them to the Mods or Admins, who will presumably then take action on these report? Will that action involve purging individual images or postings, or will the whole thread just get deleted? If it's the latter, then I don't see many thread starters submitting reports.

I can see a hypothetical scenario (or has it already happened?) where one Litster who doesn't like another Litster's thread can get it removed just by posting a prohibited image in it. If the thread starter is unable to remove it (or persuade the poster to remove it) then the guidelines imply that the sanction imposed by the Mods or Admin will be to delete the entire thread. Does that seem fair or proportionate?

I'm posing these questions not to stir the pot, but because I'm genuinely confused and I don't see how these guidelines can possibly work in practice. If I'm missing something, then I'll be glad to be corrected.
.

I have, once or twice, inadvertently posted pics that violated the rules. I got a pm from the thread owner asking me to remove it. Arduous. But I think that's the only way to do it.

So, in that case, the threads that get removed are the ones in which a rogue poster submits a prohibited image and then refuses to act on the thread starter's pleas to remove it? In the light of recent events, can thread starters really trust the Mods and/or Admins to excise only the prohibited images if they report them (as opposed to the Mods or Admins taking the easier nuclear option and just deleting the whole thread?).

Do I have a valid point here? I'm beginning to wonder if not. :(

If you read the guidelines above, you'll see that it is NOT just explicit images. It's anything you don't own which is pretty much anything found on the web, explicit or not. Even her <<<< which means I need to look for another AV somewhere.

Mods don't see everything, and, I'm sure, compared to how much is posted they probably see every little. That's why there's a report function for when rules are broken.

Or just post pics and gifs in the GB. I had so many posts moderated until I started posting there.

The part people are confusing, is the copyright issue.

It states that you can't upload copyrighted material to the Lit servers. This is because you'd be putting them (As in Literotica) in possession of copyrighted material. Hot linking isn't the same. They allow linking, but will remove it if the actual owner shows up and asks them to.

So linking to an avatar is fine, but actually uploading one you grabbed from the web (in your user CP options) isn't allowed.

But I think there won't be a purge, just an occasional copyright holder stopping by

Forgot to mention that part, I do know that. So you're telling me that every member on lit that has an AV that is not them, they will have to delete it?

I've had at least one thread owner ask me to remove images because they included a mention of another website on the image. So I took down the links no problem.

Inconsistent

Many threads contain still or GIF images. I often post an image. In some threads, a moderator(?) has asked that I link my images and not post directly. In one thread, the moderator has actually deleted my (unlinked) images. Personally I prefer seeing the images directly without having to click on a link because it is inconvenient to click. I guess I need to just post links, even though not everyone (perhaps even most posters) does.
