Xmas in USA used to be about as culturally significant as Arbor Day. Xians celebrated Easter, the flowering of their faith, not Xmas, the misdated mythological sprouting of its holy seedling. Then along came Charles Dickens, and Prince Albert, and Thomas Nast, and a Coca-Cola ad artist, and Gene Autry, et al. Now this commercial season wastefully drives a fair chunk of the global economy. Madness.
