I know kids today are basically as thick as two short planks and like others of the 'mature' set I try to give them the benfit of the doubt, blaming systems instead of the kids themselves But this has got to be priceless:
Yesterday I was talking to an eighteen year old son of a friend of mine and the conversation got around to Rugby. We discussed the All-Blacks and he suddenly came out with "Yeah they're good at Rugby but I don't know how being so close to Africa. They must feel a bit isolated being stuck out there on their own."
I was stunned, my friend (the lad's father) was stunned and it seemed as though the whole world had turned to look at our little group.
It all became clear when an atlas was produced and the boy pointed to Madagascar as being what he thought was NZ!
What can the rest of us do?
I usually cry...
