at work by threatening to cut my hours because he did not give me at least 24 hour notice that he was gonna cancle my hours today(he gave me 2). If he goes through with this threat, what exactly can I do? I want his ass and the store's ass with as much as I can get. I won't say the store name to protect it and me for now. Just want to have my options open on what I can do.

So, he gave you a 2 hour notice instead of a 24? If it's in your contract that it HAS to be 24.... you can prolly take "legal action," as they call it.

Its a general law where a business (at least in my state, IL) HAS to give you 24 hour notice before he cuts your hours for that day. And what kind of "legal action"?

It would be a civil suit against the company Cibo. Look on the net or call a free legal advice hotline to find out more. Good luck.:rose: :rose:

Hrm....recommend any?

Hmmmmm, depends on the state and the state laws, and how many that are regulated by feds

was it a mandatory cut?

and did you sign an employment agreement that guarantees a certain amount of hours?

There are a lot of factors that can apply, and I'd seek legal advice.

Sorry, I don't have any specifically to recommend....as I said it depends on your state....etc....

Hrm...I might want to get a copy of my contract just to re-read it. They should be able to give it to me with np right?

Most employment contracts are at will. Which means they can terminate you for any reason, with or without cause. Generally, they are not required to give you notice to cancel a shift. Especially in retail, and believe me, I know what it's like to have a shift cut in retail.

Its not just the having hours cut, but its the threat itself of doing it...

Unfortunately, there generally isn't anything you can do with the threat of losing hours. It sounds like you're an hourly employee. Generally the only ones guaranteed hours are salaried, and they generally are severely underpaid for the amount of hours they put in.

Ya you're right about the salaried part. Ah well, I'll still see what I can dig up. But it felt good basically calling all my bosses assholes and idiots without saying it itself. :)

If there is no binding contract, look around at other job sites. Living well is the best revenge! :D
