Though Democrats are using the Supreme Court’s recent rulings to attack its legitimacy and call for reforms, most Americans share the Court’s view, polling reveals.

On three decisions made last week where the justices split 6-3 along ideological lines—ruling against affirmative action, striking down President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan and affirming the free speech rights of a Christian web designer—Americans are evenly split or mostly agree with the outcome, according to The Washington Post. Meanwhile, Biden reacted to the affirmative action decision by saying “this is not a normal court,” and Democratic lawmakers spent the days following the term’s end amplifying calls for court packing, term limits and other reforms.

Multiple polls show Americans generally oppose the use of race-based criteria during the college admissions process, including 63% in a Washington Post-Schar School poll from October 2022, and 70% in a CBS News-YouGov poll from last month.

It appears the majority of the SCOTUS is not only in line with the Constitution but with the majority of Americans as well. Notwithstanding the gnashing of teeth and the slashing of breasts in the camps of Jomar and Butters.:D

I thought you didn't like a majority decision.....maybe you're rethinking the electoral college now?

No, I've always been a champion of the majority of the Electoral College deciding the Presidential contest. It's in the Constitution.

Not at all. It's just unconstitutional to consider the popular vote in a presidential election.
This is a typical pussy stance but considering it's you and it goes against what the majority of Americans want, it makes sense.

So it's good that the popular vote agrees with you, even though you don't like majority rule

The premise of the OP as it relates to affirmative action and student loan forgiveness is questionable; I suspect a lot of people have mixed feelings on these issues, as I do myself.

The views of the court depends on 1) who you ask (poll a bunch of Rightguides and Icanhelp/hisarpys and you'll get a different answer than if you poll a truely random sample of people) and 2) which specific cases you are asking about.

As far as overturning Roe Vs Wade, it is clear that the vast majority of Americans- even those who lean pro-life- rightfully blast that decision as they should. Same with those who claim that refusing to bake a wedding cake is "Free Speech"- it's like saying that people should have a right to operate "Whites only" restaurants and hotels- no they shouldn't, and very few people (other than Rightguide and his ilk, obviously) agrees with that court decision.

It's unconstitutional to consider what the majority of the people want. The only thing that matters is what six people who support a cult decide.

The electoral college was devised specifically to give greater weight to the slave states over the non-slave states. So it's constitutional? So was the 18th amendment.

Not surprising. Numerous polls over the years show that most Americans believe race should not be a factor in college admissions. Even deep blue California rejects it. They voted to get rid of it in 1996, and voted down a 2020 ballot measure to restore it by a wide margin.
