How come?

This forum seems to be the least "talked" in. I've noticed threads get lots of views, but they die out so quickly. I've really enjoyed some of the conversations but I often wish they would continue!

I spend most of my time on the GB, but just wondering why more people don't answer in the threads?

??

Maybe cause this is where most of the flames take place??? not really sure.

..........................................oh sorry, nice av ;)

I think a lot of the replies here are a lot longer than the ones on the gb which seem to be mostly one liners. Also the threads here tend stay around for a long time, this gives people a chance to read and think about their reply and know that the thread will most likely be here when they come back.
Then there is the issue of repeating what has already been written, plus being a How To forum a lot of people come here to read and learn without necessarily posting.
Possibly the threads that die out quickly are the ones that have been asked and answered many times before.
Thats my theory anyway.

Thanks for answering, those were some of my thoughts, but I just wanted to hear what others were thinking.

Do regulars that post here, lurk on the GB, like I lurk here? :D

 :D yep

if you look at the main page, the number of registered users (at the time of this writing, 16) vs. the number of actual posts being made is really disproportionate. i guess this is an extension of the exhibition/voyeur category? :>

There you go, let's see if you get more responses here. :)

It's because I kill 'em. :D

I lurk everywhere. Sometimes I post on the GB.

I've looked at this thread twice before this posting. Sometimes it is a matter of looking to determine if I have something to add. If you look at some of the other forums there are many views to the number of replies. Each post also moves the view count up too.

I'm a regular on the HT, the PG and have been on the GB slightly less then regularly (I seem to go in spurts about where I post). The HT is a much slower pace then the other boards, I guess it's the nature of the board.

Well, if you're lurking here rather than posting here, then your helping to perpetuate the death of threads rather than their survival. I don't lurk anywhere without posting (sometimes to the dismay of those who are also posting...), and I stopped visiting the GB a long time ago.

Don't sit on the fence, Naughty. Get involved or don't complain about the threads you like dying off. And, No, I'm not trying to flame you in saying what I'm saying here.

What they said, yep

I agree with all the other posters here.
I feel that people read and learn things here and only post if they have something to say or add that hasn't been said before.
And, the GB people seem to love to make posts whether they have anything to say or not, only to see their name there or raise their post counts.
No problem with that. That's what the GB is there for. Besides, the HT and HT Cafe are moderated and she'll delete you if you post things inappropriate for the forum.

i think that, being it's the "how to" forum, what happens is questions get answered and they reach a point where there's not a lot to discuss... however any thread can be a resource for other readers, so that's why the views are so high.

on the other hand, the GB is designed with more potential for ongoing discussion... as opposed to a Q&A type of thing.

Yeah, I agree. Unless threads go off on tangents, questions are pretty much answered in the first few posts. :)

I would never ever go off on a tangent on threads - ever. Thats just silly.

Halo, I wasn't really complaining....just inquiring. I will admit I lurk here quite often and other places as well.....sometimes I just don't have anything to say. I suppose from the replies, that's just the nature of this forum and it's also much more slower paced.

Thanks everyone for the replies!
