...that the end of NATO is in sight.

I was watching a popular in depth investigative programme the other night called "Correspondents".

Although America did not have any troops on the ground during the Bosnia war she did play a major part in covert operations carried out by the CIA and NIA. The problem was that she didn't tell anyone else what she was doing and it has now come out in the open that she was following her own agenda. The fact that this agenda completely ignored UN resolutions, NATO policies or the fact that there was a European force fighting on the ground was considered of little importance.

The main point of the programme was, however, that because some of the European chain of command realised something was being carried out with out their knowledge, the US immediately and with no pre-warning shut down all satellite and wireless communication leaving the ground troops effectively blind and deaf.

It was after this that Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister had his now famous meeting with the French President to begin the formation of the Rapid Response Force, or the Euro-Army, as it's now becoming known.

The programme drew a direct line from the covert actions of the American intelligence agencies to the meeting of the the two senior politicians to the establishing of the Euro-Army to the death of NATO.

There's got to be something in it...we haven't spoken to the French this closely since the Napoleonic Wars!

Interesting eh?

Really? We didn't have any troops in Bosnia during the war? Shocking. I know some fellas up on a hill wearing a uniform and toting M-16s who'll be highly surprised to hear that.

Sorry...

...the US did have advisers but they were not part of the main fighting force.

This was apparantly a political decision made because of the problems of showing body bags being returned from yet another foreign war.

Pretty much. We do have certain types of forces that do things on a covert level. Those were the ones I was referring to. Don't worry pp, dear, the US's fingers are just as dirty as her majesty's in that whole fiasco.

I'd be really happy if you guys would take care of your own neighborhood so we could bring our troops home once and for all.

The war didn't end until American airpower arrived.

You all know that if we leave it will probably start up all over again.

If the Brits and the French are so capable, take the peacekeeping duties over and handle it.

You really think we WANT to be there?
