I don't think I've ever been out when it was below 0 F. Low '20's was the worst I can recall and that was plenty bad enough!
Consider standing in a blast freezer Bear, with the wind blowing about 50mph. Skin freezes almost instantly. Welcome to the Canadian winter and it's only just beginning.

I remember a day in Chicago when it was maybe -20f. That's the coldest weather I've ever been in. I had to stop for gas-- paid, pumped, and started to drive away... 
with the nozzle still in the tank!
LUCKILY I didn't damage the pump or my car. The owner came running out and said; "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!" and I said; "It's soo coooold...." and he seemed to understand.

Oh, it did for a while. For about the first four years, it was tee shirts year around.Makes you glad to be back in California, no?
But now, its what-- 40f, and it feels so cold to me that I could try to drive away with a pump nozzle all over again!
Plus this 36 hour virus that has put me on my ass this weekend isn't going through the midwest. It's a warm weather virus.

No, a house. We have the thermostat go down to 18C during the middle of the day to save on heating. When 3:30 comes, the thermostat climbs back up to 22C.
