So it isn't just Vettebigot that hates the Constitution.

everybody in carolina is gonna be handling snakes and drinking strychnine.

it's the law!

I laughed out loud when I read it. Just waiting for the RWCJ to rush in and defend it.

His Constitutional dissertations are the primary reason I don't put Vette on ignore. Although his postings on economics are pretty funny as well.

It's a comedy gold twofer. And it's free!

Don't sell his accusations of presidential treason short. They're pure comedy gold.

I always tune in to his con law master classes. It's like watching Britney Spears explain quantum electro dynamics.

And he doesn't even have a gun in his sig!

It's America, does it need to name it's religion? The only "Christians" that need to be worried at all are the Mormons and possibly the Catholics. This is about that creeping Sharia Law that has been taking over the states over the last decade.

The North Carolina proposal doesn't establish a state religion. It only allows for such establishment if the voters so choose.

It's still not too late for this to blow up in the legislative sponsor's faces. God forbid (if you'll pardon the pun) that the majority of North Carolinians declare themselves Muslims or, even worse, Unitarians.

It could happen.

Jedi Knights. An internet campaign got that onto the UK census a few years back. Let's make this happen, people!

Not bad, but we're talking North Carolina here. We need to Americanize the campaign. How about Jedi Knights of Columbus?

No one expects the Unitarian Inquisition!

We have ways of making you think for yourself!

Apparently the Constitution means jack to the extreme right.

And those who refuse to the death will simply be remembered as martyred saints.

What can I say? I have a gift for elegant rationalization.

This is the state that elected one of the biggest scumbag politicians of the 20th century, aka Jesse Helms. Multiple times at that.

Nothing surprises me.

I resent this implicit slur upon the honour of Strom Thurmond.

they also very nearly went for obama last year and did go for him in 2008, so you might want to rethink that because that certainly shocked the hell out of me.

Interesting. So far as I can tell from that article, the bill asserts the state of North Carolina can have an established religion -- but does not specify one.

That bill would then be unconstitutional since it would violate the establishment clause. It's the main reason why you can't teach creationism in public school science courses.

The best part is that vette will somehow blame brown people for this and then claim he isn't racist. Oh and then he'll brag about what an ass-clown he is.

LOL, I have no idea.

I've sat here and watched the rest of you drop like flies. :D

"laws that have no hope of surviving constitutional scrutiny yet always succeed in running up millions in legal fees to be paid by taxpayers on the way to failure"

It is OK to test the Constitution. It a way of investing my tax dollars, as far as I am concerned. The fastest growing group in the electorate in the US are the atheists. So of course the Christian Coalition (in whatever sheep's clothing they wear to reinvent themselves) will seek to rally their base in this way. I see it as one of the initial death rattles of organized religion.

Governor Tarkin: The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion.
