Turkish Inflation Hits 19-year High In Lira Crisis

International Business Times|2 hours ago

Turkey's annual inflation rate surged to its highest level since 2002 in December, official data showed Monday, after a currency crisis sparked by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's unconventional economic policies.

The asshole over there is as Orange as the Orange Turd hoped to be.

He could have gone with something closer to home like Venezuela
and I don't blame Biden for that, but I do blame the people who
he's gating his political/economic ideas from...

... the ones that are leading to our skyrocketing prices.

All that money we poured into benefits and "essential workers?"

All of their gains have now been wiped out.

They can't even afford Thanksgiving turkey now,
so Turkey is a weak-sauce distraction...

Turkey makes a lot of my favorite candy. Taffy, gummy bears and worms... chewy stuff.

And the worst part of all of this is that he still has every intention
of flooding the markets with more cheap, low-interest money,
but he's caught in a trap because the only way out is to
raise interest rates and because all the debt on all
of this massive government spending will suddenly
cost a hell of a lot more to even pretend to service.

Would you really like some more gravy with your turkey?

Inflation is not Joe Biden's fault alone.

Joe Biden is just the guy in the big chair right now, but the problems with the US dollar are deep and go back a long way.

Turkey is having it's own issues for it's own reasons.

Democrats want us to know that iz not my dog...

Cancel culture does not exist -- that iz not my dog.
Critical Race theory is confined to graduate school -- that iz not my dog.
Inflation is a good thing – that iz not my dog.
Finally, the grown-ups are back in charge – that iz not my dog.
The border is secure – that iz not my dog.
That new government program is paid for – that iz not my dog.
Systemic racism is at the heart of America – that iz not my dog.
Even though you are vaccinated you must continue to mask and quarantine – that iz not my dog.
Everything that went wrong in 2021 is Donald Trump’s fault – that iz not my dog.
Defunding the police will reduce crime – that iz not my dog.

Odd how "but..but...Inflation!" only comes from AJ's lips when a Democrat occupies the White House. 20 years of consistency!

We aren't Turkey.

Nobody blames Joe Biden for the current state of Turkey.

Please seek help from a mental healthcare professional.

The tried and true economic metrics of a banging stock market and low unemployment mean nothing to them when a Dem is in charge.

Inflation is too much money chasing too few goods. Anyone been paying attention to US monetary policy over the last 15 years or so?

How are there too few goods? There's still plenty of manufacturing going on -- much of it offshored, but the products find their way here.

It’s a function of the supply of money in circulation.

Not U.S. dollars alone -- apparently it's a global trend. There won't be any way of getting a handle on it until there is a global currency, some UN equivalent of the Euro, with some equivalent of the Fed to regulate that money supply.

Quit playing dumb. You know what the problem is. Myself and others have explained it to you in great detail. It's always grounded in monetary policy as it is in Turkey and here in the United States.

Well, if it's a global problem, then the Fed cannot solve it by raising interest rates.
