OK, my SO came up last weekend and to surprise her, I shaved for the first time. I had used a beard trimmer on a number of occasions (I'm far too hairy in certain spots), but it only works so well on that area (just too much loose skin). It went really well and I was able to get rid of almost all my hair, which she absolutely loved. Unfortunately, the razor burn was a bit too much for comfort's sake. Do any of you guys have helpful tips?

BTW, this qualifies as a writing thread (Charley ;) ) because we need to be accurate if we're writing about this subject. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

There's numerous threads in the How To forum concerning different means of hair removal.

What I've seen recommended time and time again, both for men and for women, is Magic Shave.

You might want to check out this post - it has links to all the threads.

Well, I'm not a guy but I was married for ten years....

Get a personal shaver. There are several brands...and it works well on men AND women..... :)

I used a good one. The problem with them is that if it doesn't work out well enough, you don't know until a day or two later, and then you're stuck with the results for several more (ouch). I was wondering if there were specific things to do to minimize the risk. She really did enjoy the results, so I want to keep doing it.

Why is Des' AV not showing up on my 'puter? Did the AV police do something?

I kinda liked seeing Kiten stretched out on the bed........whatsup with that? Is it just me...all of a sudden?

Making it comfortable after you shave

You have my sympathies, Des :(

Eventually you get used to being shaved and it isn't so irritating...
Perfect...thanks sweety. Do women have the same problem? Although I'm sure the area is just as sensitive, there are so many odd angles and different textures with a guy. Like I said, I'm going to find a way to keep doing it (even if it just takes the grin and bear it approach  ). The results were definitely worth a bit of discomfort (for both of us). :D

Odd, it's still there for me. BTW, I like seeing her stretched out too. That was the last photo before I had to take her back to the airport. It means a lot to me (and not just because I wore her out  ).

Thanks. This should help a lot. :rose:

Yeah, it takes alot of time to make sure that everythings "just right"...me and my ex would spend at least an hour a couple of times a week making sure everything was "just right"....and it requires alot of patience....

only thing is ...kiten ain't there with you for this...I think ya'll need to start thinking about how to rectify that situation.....

Still not there...it was for a while...odd that it's the only one not showing up...huh....strange....

Yeah... all those red bumps... ick! I hated those. And it itches when it starts to grow back. It took a few weeks for my skin to kind of "adjust"... But now I shave every day (maintenence is key) and I never itch, I never have those bumpy things... it's all nice and smooth. My ex shaved down there and it was the same thing... just took time to get used to it. And he shaved himself... just shaving cream and a razor.

My husband now doesn't have enough hair to really worry about... :)

btw: I can still see Kiten. :catroar:

Trust me, the thought is never far from my mind. I wonder if telling her how hard it is for me to shave all by myself will tip the scale...:p

I'll keep working on it. Maybe between your link and Cloudy's, I can find a way to do it without the limp.

If you think that pic is nice, you should see the ones I didn't think were appropriate for Lit. :jaw drop:

Oh, please. What could possibly be inappropriate for Lit? The Sunday-go-to-meetin' dress with the sunbonnet? :D

Gillette Mach 3 razors, shave very carefully using a mosturizing body wash rather than shaving cream, and AFTER you shave- wipe the area down with the ordinary yellow Listerine.

It works for me- and the hubby. Best results come if you trim everything you can down as far as you can and then shave.

And for the love of your skin- use a new blade.

Will it hurt Dr.?
Well you may experience some discomfort. :p

The poor thing...I felt so bad for him...but he did just grin and bear it...and he did it very well...I know he had to be hurting the day after I left

I'd just like to nominate this thread for outstanding title.

Interesting, I'll give that a try. I'm with you on the blade. These things are so nice when their new, it's amazing (I already have the Mach 3). When they're old, it's painful on my face (which I have to shave every day). I can't imagine what it would be like in my "nether regions"
