A bit of a scorcher, that one.

'Highest temperature on Earth' as Death Valley, US hits 54.4C

What could be the highest temperature ever reliably recorded on Earth - 130F (54.4C) - may have been reached in Death Valley National Park, California.

The recording is being verified by the US National Weather Service.

It comes amid a heatwave on the US's west coast, where temperatures are forecast to rise further this week.

The scorching conditions have led to two days of blackouts in California, after a power plant malfunctioned on Saturday.

24C and raining here. It's a nice break from crap we've been getting.

hot out but a fresher feel, and we've had small but welcomed patches of rainfall the past couple of days. enough that the ground is damp.

right now, it's 84, feels like 86 and with a 47% humidity--and a breeze!
compared to the mid/high 90s with feels-likes over 100 and disgusting humidity levels but no rain? works for me!

Record heat in the south and west, a killer Derecho in Iowa, record ice melt in the Arctic, record global warming.

Trump and his supporters are wrong about EVERYTHING.

Then again, they're just repeating what they hear and read from right wing propaganda outlets so........

It's been pretty nice. And, it's looking to be a good week upcoming.

I think there were some 90s days here. Maybe in June, when beaches may have been closed. 80s are warm enough to remember there is a beach, but not enough for frequent trips.

It was 97 Deg.F today Down from 104 Deg. F Saturday.

Could not quite cut the air with a knife today...

It's summer and some people get their panties all twisted up because it gets hot.
It's not that far from Furnace Creek, where the 130 degrees was recorded, and we're going through a stretch of days over 110. That's fairly typical down south around Laughlin/Bullhead City and on over in Lake Havasu City and Phoenix.
It has been a hot summer.
Back in 1990, though, it got up to 117 or 118 in Vegas and 122 in Phoenix. No idea how hot Furnace Creek was that day. I had some killer nachos that night.

We've been unseasonably cool.

See how this works?

Of course, unseasonably cool is man-made climate change.
Everything is man-made climate change.
Giant buffalo herds never had
any effect on climate...

Read the paper this morning. Vegas is almost as warm as it was in … drum roll … 1944.

Educate yourselves.

Just google record heat 2020,

It's a good thing you old climate change deniers will be dying off soon, though it may still be too late for future generations.

You should be so proud.

Warmest years

In January 2017, several scientific agencies around the world, including NASA and the NOAA in the United States[10][11] and the Met Office in the United Kingdom, named 2016 the warmest year recorded.[12][13] This marked the third consecutive year reaching a new record temperature, the first time since the current warming trend began in the 1970s that three years in a row were record highs.[11] 2016's record meant that 16 of the 17 warmest years have occurred since 2000,[11] 2017 being the third-hottest year on record meant that 17 of the last 18 warmest years have occurred since 2000.

While record-breaking years can attract considerable public interest, individual years are less significant than the overall trend. Some climatologists have criticized the attention that the popular press gives to "warmest year" statistics; for example, Gavin Schmidt stated "the long-term trends or the expected sequence of records are far more important than whether any single year is a record or not."[14] Of the 2015 and 2016 records, Schmidt stated that the 2014–16 El Niño event was "a factor ... but both 2015 and 2016 would have been records even without it"; he attributed about 90% of the warming in 2016 to anthropogenic climate change.[15] Consistent with Schmidt's comment, the NASA / NOAA announcement stated that "globally-averaged temperatures in 2016 were 1.78 degrees Fahrenheit (0.99 degrees Celsius) warmer than the mid-20th century mean" and that the impact of El Niño warming was estimated to have "increased the annual global temperature anomaly for 2016 by 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit (0.12 degrees Celsius)."[10]

Trump signs only a portion of Iowa’s disaster relief request

PBS suplied footage of damage inflicted on Iowa.

IOWA DERECHO 2020

Flattened, trashed, destroyed, flooded.

Air Force One made a pit stop in Iowa, on the way to Arizona.

Trump did not want anyone from the "enemy camp"of Democrats
to overhear anything, so he left them out.

Trump is making campaign promises Iowa.

(Can be sure that Trump is telling them that he"wants them to do him a favour, though.)

Not enough water for the crops...yards...golf courses...people. But hey, we should loosen the regulations on water use...because food isn't important. We get it from the grocery store...not the farmers.

It doesn't rain here much anymore. Had about 5 heat waves this Summer. I am sure we will get one more but tonight a bit of Fall is in the air.
