Unlikely to be around much in future. As some of you know a little over three weeks ago I was diagnosed with an incurable illness, I have asbestosis as a result of a summer job I did some 40 years ago at the tender age of fifteen.

I'll be getting the results of the scans etc on Thursday and whilst we don't believe at this stage it is malignant, the hardening of my lungs is advanced and I need to devote myself to other tasks to ensure my families future is safeguarded. This doesn't mean I will not be around, or that I won't complete NaNo, but that is likely to be my last substantial contribution to Lit.

Thanks for the company, thanks for the support and encouragement, I'd never have taken the plunge to start writing without the good people here and I've discovered more about myself, and more to like about myself, as a result. I'm not a quitter, and I'll continue working/writing for as long as I'm able, unfortunately this illness has time parameters and I need to use my energy to best effect. I'll be around today and I post the outcome of the tests later.

Take care of one another.

Will.

*hugs* Neon, you know my prayers are with you love, you are sweet, sweet gentleman and I am hoping for very positive outcomes from your scans.

Shit. Shit, shit, shit.

Sorry to hear that neon. You're going to be missed.

But take care of your family. That's the important thing.

Neon,

Damn it to hell.

Take care of yourself. A whole lot of good folks, plus some of us who aren't so good, will be pulling for you and yours.

I will miss you, but you do what you need to do for yourself and your family. You've been a very bright spot for me here on the board.

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. My heart goes out to you all.

:rose:

Neon,
So very sorry to hear that, but the news is bittersweet because even though you are going to have to go through this I can be selfish enough to say that I'm glad I had the opportunity to have met you and momentarily bask in your light.
Thank you for being a friend, for visions of coffee and pastry and people watching, for shared stories and for some silly fun.
All the best to you my friend that you may always have the strength and humor you need when things are at their hardest.

Abs.

Take care, Neon. :rose:  I will miss you.

Much, much luck,

Yui

Saddened to hear of your misfortune Neon
Best wishes for you and your family.
Hopefully the old sawbones got it wrong and you'll be our inspiration for a long time to come.
You'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

Neon -

I'm so sorry to hear of all of this. I've been following your story as it unfolded over the last few months and every post makes me so frustrated for you.

I'm glad you're not going through this alone and that you have the ability to really focus on your loved ones for a while.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones. :rose:

Neon, you've given the place a lot. It would hardly be what it is without you. You've helped a lot of us, and inspired more. Take care of business, now. And take care of yourself, as well.

Sincerest thanks for all the messages.

Me too - unfortunately on the way out from the lab the technician asked 'So, when were you exposed to asbestos?' It was the first I knew of it - I thought we were still trying to discover what was causing the shut down of my nervous system!

Yep. You can say that again.

Family comes first, that is where my effort goes now.

Mat, it was a great pleasure meeting you back in January, I only wish we'd had more time. I know you are going to make a go of things, and I'll watch on with envy, there's nothing quite like being covered in goose down.

Yeh, they chased ghosts all year. Turned out I had Gallian Barre syndrome which is a viral infection of the mylar casing to the nervous system, bits of my body would stop working for periods, including my eyesight, dwindling to looking through the wrong end of binoculars - quite disturbing. It was when they took x-rays they found the asbestosis. In one sense the discovery at least gives me some time to put things in order.

Once again my thanks, I'll still be around - as and when.
